Fair play to Barker. Hes got a european fight so why not take it? He doesnt pick his fights!!!, and im sure he would fight anyone. Lets get behind him?!?! Lets say Barker beats this guy, then he'll fight someone better??? Lee, Macklin, Gevor??? Personally i think he'll beat them all. Barker is a very good boxer and a credit to the sport. If anyone says he's not worthy of a european shot then your mad!!! Good luck Barker do the business!!!

Blah this fight is terrible. Barker schools this guy and takes the belt. I cant see Barker doing much for a while make a few defenses of the belt but I think he would get schooled by Pavlik, lose to Sturm and possibly do well against Sylvester.
As for the Barker / Lee debate; both have fought guys below their level and I am not picking anyone in this fight until they fight better guys. But if we want to bring up Macklin / Barker, Macklin will school Barker and stop him late on in the fight.

Yeh but barker is at the start of career by the end of the year i think he will be ready to mix with the likes of pavlik.

I didnt get a chance to talk to Darren but wondered if anyone knew if this was the case? Macklin is still the champion isnt he?
Yeah on the Harrison Bill at Ally Pally for the EBU Title

Excellent, might be worth buying a ticket. Beautiful boxer is Darren.

excellent opportunity for Darren, might have to buy a ticket for this on, this could be one of the shows of the year. He comes across as one of the nicest blokes in boxing, plus he has gone about it the right way, Commonwelath, British and now European. Fingers crossed the guy gets a shot at a world title by the end of the year. He deserves to be up there the the likes of Haye, Khan and Froch.

Fair enough Lee lost concentration in the last and got tagged by a few heavy shots in the final two but that doesn't take away from the fact that Lee outclassed and outboxed him for the majority of the fight.
Another soft touch for the hype job that is Barker! Embarrassing to be honest.
Wot if lee got offered it an didn't fancy it I'd back barker to beat lee anyway
x2 i think barker is world class.

I agree.
In my opinion Barker is one of the most technically gifted fighters we've got in the UK, alongside the likes of Kell Brook. Yes he needs to be tested at the highest level though and his chin is questionable. He definitely needs to be more active. Fighting twice a year is simply not good enough.

Gevor will be his mandatory if not take on lee as his 1st defence if lee is as poor as you say then it would be a handy fight for barker as usual....

Lee is not poor at all ...... He is a very good boxer when he sticks to his skills rather than slug. However, I merely think Barker is a superior boxer, particularly in regards to his defence. Barker has improved considerably within the last couple of years. He just needs to be more active.

I cant confirm that -
A. Andy Lee was never offered the shot - despite after just beating Belghecham in his last fight.
B. He would love a shot at fighting the winner or replacing either fighter in this fight.
So there you have it - clear evidence the Barker is ducking Lee.

Lee was a better amateur and barker has beaten absolutely nobody in pro game so how you come to the conclusion barker is better than lee is beyond me.......

I agree 100% with that ..... Based on their performances in the last couple of years in the pros. Barker's defensive movement is to be admired in recent fights, particularly the way he ducks under punches ala Sweet Pea Whitaker (obviously he's not in Sweet Pea's league though

)
Some fighters are better suited to the pro game rather than the amateurs, as it has been illustrated numerous times in the past.

Mcderrmott , butler, mckay are not even european level fighters its easy for well schooled boxer like barker to look good against boxers who are levels below themselves.....

YEAH! fighting nobodies though! BS writers havent got a clue!!!
Lee has more skill, was a better amateur, has a better chin, bigger dig and fought better fighters. Yet Barker DUCKS him to fight Belghecham has Lee just outclassed!!!! I'll enjoy watching Barker get pounded by any of the three Irish middleweights - relish it!!!!
