I think Haye fights better a bit lighter than last night.
He would have to fight the klits a similar weight to when he fought Valuev .
I noticed Haye got hurt by a body shot as well in his own corner it seemed to me.
He looks great when hes firing away but very vulnrable on the receiving end.
Both Klits hit a damn sight harder than Ruiz.
Im still unsure.

Bunce said some stuff on 5 Live about Haye having to cut corners during training because of injuries and other stuff. Anyone know any more about this?

Great win for Haye, still going to have trouble with both Klitchsko's. Its amazing the people still see the Klitchsko's as "the same" but one with the good chin. The bad chin oned is the MUCH better boxer. Far quicker, much more variety. If Haye's chin was better I would be telling him to go for Vitali in a heart beat.

Haye still fights "tall". He was tad fortunate against Valuev, I don't think we learned anything last night. Haye has power, we already knew that. Haye could hurt BOTH Klitchsko's.... but I think they are too awkard, too defensively savvy.

I'm not as impressed as everyone else with haye last night. Sure, when he opened up he looked great, but i was under the impression that if he was made to fight for more than a minute of each round he would have been unable to fight for more than a few rounds before collapsing in a heap from sheer exhaustion.

Any fighter that can stay with Haye through his early onslaught, all the time making him fight and making him throw shots will tire him out before the 5th round. It is clear to me he is unable to throw more than a few combinations per round, any more and he's exposing himself to sheer exhaustion.

Make him fight, force him into fighting 3 minutes of every round, thats the way to beat him. Vitali can carry that off, i'd back him strongly to beat Haye.

However, i'm as happy as everyone else Haye is doing the buisness up at heavyweight. He's a breath of fresh air for the division and i hope his reign lasts!

Well done David Haye, a great win considering the awkward opponent and the troubled training camp we now know the champion endured.

However, a few worrying signs became obvious to me during the fight.

Firstly, Haye was way too cavalier in his approach when he was on the offensive, leaving himself exposed, even after many appeals for control from Adam Booth in the corner.

Secondly, Haye's lack of head movement will be his downfall at the elite level. If either of the Klit's were fighting against Haye last night he would have gotten his head jabbed off! Way too easy to be hit.

Still, Haye said that he would be an exciting addition to the heavies and he is certainly delivering in that department. I for one will enjoy the ride while it lasts, albeit a white knuckle ride!

Really good win. Showed his power, stuck Ruiz on his backside right from the off, got well ahead on points. Some of the knockdowns were from shots to the back of the head tho, whether Ruiz was stunned already or not is irrelevant. Even without the knockdowns being counted tho Haye was way up when he did stop Ruiz with an excellent combo.

One thing I noticed tho is Haye did look tired therefore for a fight with the Klitschko's this needs addressing. His weight was fine I don't think he needs to bulk up anymore.

I think he needs to drop 4 or 5 lbs to be fair, he doesn't need to be touching 16 stone.

His stamina was not up to scratch - no way, his hands are too low & even against Wlad he would struggle.

Vitali would absolutely annihilate Haye based on that sluggish performance against nothing more than a heavy-weight journey man.

vitali is quite a lot quicker than he is given credit for, his movement isn't brilliant, but he has quick hands for such a big man.

I still think he'd have his work cut out against Vitali, but I do think Haye has the power to hit and hurt anyone in the division after that performance. Vitali would land more than Ruiz and harder though.

Im starting to think his chances are better against either of the brothers, but you've got to think that either of them would have beaten Ruiz up in the same amount of rounds.....so let's not all get carried away.
I think that sums it up perfectly. Haye could beat any HW out there but the brothers are a different matter. I think he stands a chance against them but I couldnt be confident about the outcome. Of the two I think Vitali would be the harder to beat.

Nice work by Haye to dismantle Ruiz.

Not sold though. Haye took punches, and against either brother you'd think he'd crumble under their shots.

Best bet is to face Wlad rather than Vitali, because of the plodders glass chin. He'd need to land early though.

i think the K2s would be in serious decline and very close to retirement - if their opponents over the past 2 years actually tried to HIT THEM. these opponents try to survive, probably thinking about the rest of their career, not realising they have no career after such abysmal showings.

wlad is much the tidier boxer, but can you say he's the better boxer when you look at how each fared vs sam peter and corrie sanders? vitali was hitting peter with combos and getting effortlessly away. wlad was down 3 times and shitting himself. vitali does a lot wrong, but he has the crucial stamina and toughness. it might be possible that both have a bit of "dog" in them (i hate the term, as i like dogs): vitali quitting when injured (byrd), wlad constantly hugging and turning away from the opponent in clinch breaks.

haye is still coming on. he was clearly not in top top shape last night. his body looked sluggish. his hands were fast but his movement was weird and clumsy. there were concerns pre fight that his body didn't look proper solid, and it has turned out he did no sparring all last month. if he wants to beat either brother he needs to land some serious power shots. if he went on the run, both bros would easily boss him.

Thing with the Klitschko brothers is I don't necassarily think much of their fitness either. Yeah they always come in looking in excellent shape, but do they ever fight hard for 3 minutes of every round. ALI made an excellent point on how to beat Haye earlier on, its the boxer who can take his power but also fight for the 3 minutes every round that will wear him out. I aint so sure that Vitali can fight for the full 3 minutes, he didn't do that at all against Sam Peter, he just worked behind the jab and straight right and didn't really have to throw many shots, and likewise against that overweight Yank who the Americans were claiming was the second coming of god himself (like they do with all their undefeated fighters.) I cant remember a fight where we have said, 'wow Vitali really did have to fight for every inute of every round there' since the Lewis fight all those years back. And likewise with Wladimir I dunno whether he can take Haye's power should Haye land.

Like ALI I thought last night was a good win but I aint going overboard like the commentators and pundits seemed to be. I think Haye has the style to beat the Klitschko brothers but I also think they can give him nightmares in there. I just hope the fights happen as it's what the division needs.

Props to Haye great performance.
I have been impressed by Haye's defense, lots of head movement and anticipation, good at setting up traps, good power, good speed.
I was worried by his conditioning. He showed he was gassing very fast as soon as he started throwing a bit of combinations. This could be a real issue if he needs to apply pressure vs a bigger taller guy like Vitali or Wlad.
Tonight, just like vs Barrett or Valuev, Haye fought a defensive fight where he would constantly retreat and let his opponent chase him and counter on occasions. This can work vs a very very slow and plodding Valuev, or a slow and shorter Ruiz (reach difference was obvious). If Haye fights Vitali or Wlad, he will have to take the fight to them and apply pressure.
Anyways this is interesting.

Comparing the opponents isn't the best way to compare the brother. For a couple of reasons.

1) The Sanders fight was years ago. Wlad has changed camps since then. Is Lewis worst than Buster Douglas because he lost to McCall.

2) Wlad has also improved since the Peter fight, I think BECAUSE of the Peter fight. But okay, lets say he hasn't. I aint saying Wlad has a better chin than Vitali - Peter was a DURABLE fighter who could punch, there is a key difference that Haye hasn't got.

You only have to compare their respective performance against the small, out of shape yanks, to see who is the better offensively. Vitali was left frustrated, missing CONSISTENTLY, and didn't know quite how to deal with the dissapointing Johnson. Wlad fought a much more game and experienced Chambers, who couldn't do a thing. Look at his display against Chagaev.

He has much more variety, much better handspeed and a better defensive (that doesn't mean a better chin).

One thing that concerns me about Haye, that people haven't really touched upon. Haye has problems with this camp, had problems with injuries during the Valuev fight, and alledgedly a back injury prevented a fight with Klitchsko happening earlier last year. Haye has proven he is a fighter, when the fight is signed - with a guarenteed/secure purse. Will he pull out if something happens in sparring/training. It seems like boxing for nearly 20 years, now regularly sparring guys genetically bigger than him are taking its toll. He needs to be in tip top shape against Klitchsko.

Terrific win and he'll be mightily relieved to get that potential banana skin over with.
He's now onto the type of head spinning paydays that you can only dream about.

A lot of people were worried he'd made a calamitous move, in turning down the Kiltchkos for a 2nd time...then the demise of Setanta.
But it turns out Haye and Booth made the prefect moves, and all he needs to do now is land that right hand on the jaw of Big Wlad and it's Checkmate, goodnight sweet prince.

I LOVED that fight last night. It was great- so much fun. I think that's how Haye fights when he's got an opponent in front of him who he thinks he can put away. He goes a bit wild and takes risks. That's good. But when he has to up his game and fight tactically, he can. I don't think he's going to come in swinging wildly against a Klitschko. He'll have a game plan. I hope something comes of that proposed Freddie Roach collaboration.

Booth seems quite tactically adept. He know's David so well, strengths and weaknesses, that he sends him into every fight ready. When he matched him against a durable guy a few years back,he actually counted his punch output to make sure he didnt blow himself out.Same with Groves last night.Booth knew he could beat Adamu, and didnt even see it as a gamble,a precise, well schooled boxer against a wild swinger.Saying that, with Roach in his corner,it still wont help him against the Klit's
