I scored it a draw but belghecham should have known it was going to be given to barker at home unless he put the rounds in the bank. Barker for me will never mix it with the best in europe like macklin, pirog , gevor , pirog or irelands god andy lee . Barkers team will get proksa to fight next who is rated behind belghecham and lee for that matter and then barker will vacate.

A very hard fight for Barker, the hardest of his pro career so far. The Frenchman was a real tough nut.

I'd like to see Barker stay on the EBU scene and adjust to this level of opposition. He's a very quick learner so don't be surprised in a few fights time if Darren looks ready to challenge for world honours in 2011, and besides which, if he does defend a the EBU belt 2 or 3 times, he will have earned the right.

i had it a draw six rounds each

barker is decent but as i said before this fight he is vunerable and the french lad with no power showed showed barker up for what he is , if that was macklin in there he would have knocked barker out in 3 he is decent but not good enough imo

pity he has fought so poorly and such weak opposition to achieve that!

Then we have the fact that Lee has been beaten down and stopped by nothing more than a journeyman.
vera would have knocked barker out if they were fighting each other on friday imo instead of the feather fisted belchgaham who had barker running for his life in the second half of the fight

That was a slight exaggeration, he stepped off the gas in the second half of the fight, whether it was because he fought he done enough, or he got tired... not ran for his life.

I think barker is a top class act. it was the biggest fight of his career and he came through unhurt. At what point in that fight, did he look in absolute trouble that you and the Andy Lee group talk about??

hate to say it but i felt belgecham won it.

looking at this fight, a pre-rhodes jamie moore (compact southpaw, short puncher) would have maybe taken barker to pieces.

even if you think barker won enough early rounds, he completely lost his grip on the fight after 6 rounds - and never regained control! there were some great rounds but belgecham's output was the more consistent and he kept snapping barker's head, who did a lot of running.

it was an excellent fight, another EBU title classic after moore-rhodes, munroe-maludrottu and thaxton-mezaache.

barker's a good fighter, but that was not his night. perhaps belgecham is becoming a good fighter as he apparently had lee hurt at the end of their fight. i would maybe worry about barker v gevor because gevor is similar in size and style to belgecham.
