this is a real double shocker.
the last one i recall was ali funeka getting screwed over by joan guzman, who came 9 pounds overweight probably to make sure he could eke out a win. then funeka tests positive for banned substances.
this is really bad, though. fine, if valero wants to self destruct. the bad thing is for the ppl who get hurt along the way (the wife).

You forgot that he also killed his wife
Like I, and others have said it is a terrible shame. Yes he had problems and no doubt they contributed in to what happened but I fail to see how people are seemingly defending Valero's reprehensible actions because of his illness. At the end of the day he murdered his wife-the fact he is now dead doesn't take that away and I don't see why people should 'hold their tongue' on what they really think just because he is dead as well.
Sorry if you disagree, and I can understand why you and others do but for me what Valero has done in beating up his family, murdering his wife and leaving his children with horrific memories they may never fully recover from is unforgivable.

I hadnt forgot he killed his wife.
I just think its very easy for someone to bandy about ridiculous terms like 'loopy' about someone who has just died. If by loopy you mean mentally impaired, then I would argue that you accept that he is not totally responsible for what happened.

Lets hope some sort of Foundation gets arranged by his Promoters etc to raise some money for his Kids and give them a more comforatable life .
Its a Very sad state of affairs

Sorry but I totally disagree. Presuming he did kill his wife, which seems 95% certain why the hell should we take it easy on him just because he had the decency to kill himself afterwards?
Everyone would be on here calling him every name under the sun if he was found guilty of killing her, and rightfully so, but the fact he killed himself afterwards doesn't take away from what he did.

Yep, I agree. Who was his promoter? I know Top Rank are doing something where they donate $1 of every ticket sale to the Haiti relief or something, so obviously some promoters will do good things occasionally
The poor kids obviously haven't had it easy so far, what with Valero's problems and it's only going to get worse with them having no parents all of a sudden. Hopefully they have another family member who can take good care of them, but I imagine it's going to take a long time for them to recover from this weekends events.

Agreed. You would think President Hugo Chavez will at least contribute to provisions for the children too.

big black mark for boxing this. This has some natural comparison's to the wrestler Chris Beniot's murder suicide. Apparently, he had severe brain damage also.

An unbelievable, tragic story. Valero could have been King of the world, but obviously was seriously ill inside, though we didn't know it until just recently.
Just thank god he didn't go for the kids too, I can't imagine what must have been going through his head.
To go from being champion of the world, with a golden future, to making a noose to hang himself a few short weeks later just defies belief.

Benoit's brain was looked at afterwards. It was severely damaged, a lot of mush, the level of damage consistent with dementia and more.
