its a belting good matchup bennie

really shows a lot of confidence, on FWank's part, in Smith.

I expect Simpson to bring out the best in him, and it goes without saying if Smith's anything less than the real deal he could be on the wrong end of this one.

I think, despite his spiteful punching, Swifty would do well not to get too involved in a row- though he definitely needs to get Simpson's respect.

I truly believe we'll get to see the potential Swifty has.

Speed will be key for him, and I'll be happy if he dances around Simpson for 12 rounds to take a near shut-out decision.

Cannae' wait.

he will have to go fight with him sometime he can't just danc away from simpson for the 12 rounds, simpson is a good good fighter. he will pressure swifty and hit him with shots he's never been hit with...i think simpson wins this scrap, hope swifty wins and proves that he is class.

you should at least have half a worry, what happens if Simpson takles his best punches?

That'd be ok, because I think Swifty's main advantage will be his speed.

I do worry, it comes naturally as a big fan of the lad, but from what I've seen and what is to be expected, Swifty should take this.

aye, I've seen him myself, it's just that he's used to the other guy basically not wanting to know after he's been hit, and we all know Simpson won't just fold.

Indeed. Should get to see Swifty using his brain with Simpson, it's a big step-up from his other opponents.

I dont expect for one minute John Simpson to fold, he has his reputation for a reason. Im expecting the toughest, fittest, strongest John Simpson - and cant wait :TU:

I know what I will bring to the fight and thats what counts.

Speed kills and Skills pay the bills. Bring on the 17th 8)

Not that this is the game plan - But what makes you say that he "has to go fight Simpson sometime?!"
He doesn't have to at all - If he didn't want to. Boxing is hitting and not being hit. Stephen could do that to any featherweight in the country IMO.

Stephen is tough and strong. Don't let the looks or the fact that he hasn't taken many fool you into thinking he can't take a shot.

noone's saying steven can't take a pucnh Paul, i think what the guy means is that Simpson will force him to fight at some point over 12 or at least I'd be surprised if he doesn't have to dig in against John at some point. anyways we're all looking forward a great deal to this :TU:

Massively impressed with Smith for taking on such a challenging fight so early in his pro career. It shows that his people have great confidence in him and that he also has great confidence in himself. Simpson is teak tough and, for my money, probaby the second best in the country behind Choi. I will be hugely impressed if Smith pulls off the win.

Amateur background will also play a huge factor and Stephen Smith has been all round the world how many times over so don't be fooled into thinking that he won't be there when the going get's tough cos he will believe me.. When he get's in that ring he's one of the most competitive and most driven kids on planet earth.. He's so eagar to prove himself it's unreal.. This can't come soon enough for him, He demanded this match and that's why it's happening.. :TU:

chill out! i didnt say he was not tough, strong or chinny!!! j bacca said he would be happy if stephen dances round simpson for 12 rounds, that's not all that easy as simpson is good at cutting the ring off, hence why i say IF he wants to box and move stephen will have to stand toe to toe with simpson at times!! jeeeez

simpson has a chance at this stage of smith's career, this is a real fight & im looking forward to it. i cant see smith losing & expecting a decent encounter, smith has the tool's to win comftably also imo.
smith has shown patience in his performances, he's showed versatility & that he can adapt in a fight, like when he dropped that tough kid at york hall looked set for the stoppage then halfway through the contest changed tactics which not many can do once warm.

simpson cant trouble smith technically, as smith can outjab him, counter etc.& shock him with strength.simpson at the back of his mind will be prepared to be outboxed in order he can get going in the second half of the contest when the going get's tough & smith wont be going nowhere & i think he has the coolness too not get upset by a few dirty's & lower his game & stay tuned to his corner's advice.

Who's jeeeez?
You still didn't answer my point or admit you were wrong by the way. If a fighter is good enough then he can outbox and not get involved with anyone if he chooses to, regardless of how good they are at cutting a ring off - It's called boxing
So your reply to my post as well as your original post is wrong again. No one has to stand toe to toe with anyone to outbox them and win a fight. You're the one that's getting technical here so I'm just correcting you with my opinion. I'm entitled to do that aren't I as member of the forum?

I also disgree strongly with your opinion that Simpson wins this scrap - For what it's worth :TU:

Very tough fight this. I think Smith will outbox Simpson for a points win. I would never write off Simpson cos i've watched him a load of times and his strength seems to surprise alot of fighters. I can see Simpson forcing Smith to stand and trade a couple of times throughout the fight and people could be surprised by how well Smith does that too. Regarding Smith's pro career it's a big step up and credit to him for demanding it. I would have loved to see this fight take place in Liverpool.

Good luck Stephen.
