yes I agree with a lot or most of that BigEars, yes Munroe throws armpunches quite a lot, its something i think both myself and barn have been a little critical of, in the past.
i'm not either a 'i score proper punches over armpunches' or a 'i score volume and workrate over quality' type of scorer, i try and judge each round on its merits, and in the rounds where Munroe wasn't doing much more than 'moving his arms' with the shots i just, just (i think i had 2 really close rounds) thought he did enough to win them
i will say one thing Bigears, i wonder if Rendall's 'armpunches' have more effect than we would be able to properly judge from watching on TV
they obviously had a noticeable effect on the mexican's stamina last night. I'd like to be ringside for a Rendall fight sometime to get a better feel for the impact of his shots. he may not have a huge amount of snap to them but he's obviously a very very big strong boy and they have their effect.
the way he will work his right hand to the body, inside and then outside your left elbow, is very effective. and he's very clever at using his strength, getting into range to give you that little push off, muscle you to the ropes and on he goes like a train.
good chatting to you, as ever
edit, another thing that may be worth thinking about, i wonder if Rendall has a slightly Abraham-esque approach to pacing a fight.
with Rendall his big equalizer is size and stamina rather than the bingo pucnh, but at times you can see him taking shots on his gloves and you know that the bloke throwing shots will be paying for them at some later point of inactivity. if you know what i mean. i don't think he will ever beat anyone 11 rounds to 1 over 12, his style doesn't cater for that and if it means his opponent using up energy he seems happy to 'give 3 or 4 away'.
