I was there and I thought it was very close, I was surprised to see King looking so happy after the decision - I would have been gutted.

Fair enough. Jeffries is talanted. But just because he was a world class amatuer, and can produce it in sparring, dosen't always mean he will produce it in the ring, when the camera's are on.

I just feel he hasn't adapoted well in the Pro Ranks. I feel he has no X Factor or Start Quality about him. And the chances are he may never adapot to the Pro Ranks, look at Erol Christie, Matthew Ellis etc.

BTW, Tony who is the hardest puncher puncher you have sparred since you have been Pro? :TU:
everyone is entitled 2 an opinion . i agree he didn't box his best but imo i thnk he won every round sky showed. answer to your question to m8 is either david haye or david price both have scary power in either hand

Interesting. I always said David Price is a incredible puncher. That man is a born puncher, think he will clean up the British Scene.......

I think Jeffries is very talented- It just doesn't look like he's working on the right things at the moment. There has been no progression in his skillset since turning pro. The King win on friday (which he clearly won lads, you don't lose a fight because your caught with one decent punch) showed me that he's just the same fighter who turned pro a couple of years back.

You look at Groves, Degale etc and they've modified their styles and improved since turning over. It seems that the only modification Tonys made is to develop an even more in your face style- which is great but it seems he is relying on his strength and grit a little too much. He was a classy boxer in the ams- and to only see glimpses of that at domestic level is a worry. He should be outclassing domestic types with intelligent boxing- then when he no longer has those advantages at whatever class he makes it to- then use his natural attributes to an even higher degree. A bit like Naz and Scott Harrison used to.

Nathan King is a talented lad himself and not an easy nights work for anyone, he gave degale and Kenny Anderson tough nights too remember, but Tony is better then he showed the other night. I think he's got the punch, grit and skill to be a force to be reckoned with at at least Euro level. At the very least. But for him to do this you have to train the right way and be challenged in training the right way. Banging away at the body bag for round after round isn't going to suit every fighter. I don't think its suits Jeffries. He's too often caught after he's thrown his own shots and seems to happy to just get his head down and bash away. He also smothers his own work meaning he's getting hit with shots he can't see coming and is a little too static for my liking.

I'd like to see him use that great jab, and punch in combinations. Be able to slip punches while in range and not just throw and smother which is bcoming a bit of a staple. He doesn't look happy when he's fighting. Compare that to his debut on youtube. Anyway thats my pennies worth- and my observations. Might be helpful- might be a pile of shit ha ha

All the best Tony and don't let critism get you down, just keep improving. There is no such thing as a perfect fighter- and people will always critisise you for something.

The rounds I saw he didn't impress me.

Don't get me wrong, there have been glimpses of potential in previous fights, but for now I'm with MrBoxing.

Apparently Sky showed his least impressive rounds, not a great way to raise interest in the upcoming prospects. Get your act together Sky.

if people put there eye's on king, instead of watching what jeffries aint doing they would have no ground to say king deserved it :!:

they showed the first which jeffries won, then the third which watt said on the commentary jaffa had boxed well in round 2 (take that as winning) so that's 3 rounds up.like an earlier post said, landing one good right hand dont win you the round or fight.

I hate to tell you there was only one winner in this fight and the ref. call it right,The only round King won was the 5th.This is the kind of fight Tony needs to improve and he will only get better from fights like this.

Well said, Jeffries is more then entitled to have a go back and put his opinion across and even slag off the thread...i mean for fcuks sake it does involve him!

Spud wrote: But I go back to professional boxers who visit this forum - if you cannot hack the fans opinions on here - f*ck off - we are entitled to the opinions and whilst it is excellent people visit the place they have to accept what goes with it.
Who the fcuk are you to tell him to 'fcuk off' or speak for any one on here...that opinion only represents you and no one else. I've been using this site since May 2003(this is my 2nd username) and i certainly don't feel i have the privilege to start dictating what the 'Rules' of this forum are....any boxer who dosen't agree with something said on here has more right then anyone to say its BS...so don't pull any rank that you dont have anyway.

Spud thats a fcuking joke coming from you; you are the epitome of someone with a more or less inside position and view of the sport and never fail to remind people of it; and now you want to reinvent yourself as man of the people?

let me guess; its because doing so allows you to have another pop at Paul Smith. Well done you!

Deserter,

It does not surprise me one bit the way you have reacted - first of all I am a poster - this forum is about boxing, boxers etc etc and thus I come on here to give my honest opinions concerning the sport - I am sure you are aware this forum is not about who can give the funniest or on the other hand cruelest criticism of me - and thus your post is completely irrelevant - you and others often point out this is a boxing forum and not Spud's forum so please forgive my touchiness to criticism when its boxing you and others should be discussing on here.
:witzend: :witzend: How is it completely irrelevent? As I said, if you are entitled to give your honest opinion, why are you saying they can't come on and give an honest opinion about what you're saying? Surely that's double-standards Spud?

Jeffries is allowed to say what he wants and should be encouraged to do so but when he starts making threats about leaving the forum because someone has written a honest opinion on a fight they saw then Spud is absolutley right in what he has said.

This forum is unique in British sport where fans, boxers, trainers, journalists, ex boxers, has beens, never wassers, white collar boxers, blue collar boxers, armchair fans and fans who travel around the world - I am forgetting someone - yeah - photographers - Eric Guy! And everyone can come on and make a statement and if need be - defend their corner against some of the most knowledgeable posters (as well as Gomez! :P ) on this sport anywhere in the world.

For Tony Jefferies to threatent to boycott this place is bad form in my opinion. It would be true to say that 95% of the forum value his presence here and see him in a positive light but there will be times in the future that he gets criticism - this is what this forum is about - we see fights and we talk about them and hopefully give what is a honest opinion. If he can't handle the fact that someone makes a post saying that he lost (which is only a personal opinion) then he is better finding somewhere else who will care about his progress as much as we do - and here is the truth - there aint that many places on the net or in print!

Can you imagine if Audley read and posted on here only to write something similar to Tony Jeffries? That post would run 195 pages in the space of a day before it got locked down off Poncey!

I'll tell you what fecks me off. It's the fact that Sky will only show a few rounds. It's a joke. I was going to watch the Jeffries fight later, but I won't bother now. It's impossible to score a fight when you only see 70% of it.

C*nts, the lot of them!

Don't be like that Tony.

You're in the public eye, which means the public will voice their opinion whether it's good, bad or just plain stupid because they are entitled to. Don't forget some of the most highly regarded sportsmen/women of all time are criticised, have their career records pulled apart on a daily basis years after their careers and even their lives are over.

The best thing you can do is accept the praise, take onboard and learn from the constructive criticism and ignore the idiots.

Yeah, I concur with Rachael. Tony, you should be above this, and take it on the chin - kind of like that shot in the 5th. If you permit things to piss you off, then people will do it even more. Like with Frankie Gavin - he is a wind-up merchants dream. That's why I like to say bad things about him, because he reacts like a 6-year-old girl. I don't like him, but I like you, so show some vigour and carry on posting.
