Larry is not as good as he is being made out to be here. He has already lost to Peret and fought people who fell over since. Stop hyping him up until he actually beats somebody credible. Towers has much better punching technique than Larry (by miles) and is making good progress himself. Neither man deserves hype at this stage, but Larry even more so since he lost to Peret... and seems to not want a rematch. Chisora/Sexton/Fury et all, would do away with Larry pronto. Lets not have a Jamie Moore situation of overhyping on the board.crusader wrote:No way Towers destroys Larry. Larry is often criticized for his technical shortcomings but Towers is not much better in that area. Larry has also beaten a higher level of opposition and continues to gradually step up in class, not to mention he showed some improvements in his most recent bout.

How am I hyping him up and what exactly am I hyping him up to be? All I am saying is that Richard Towers, a man who has beaten one opponent with a winning record, would not tear him apart. Everything I said was true. Larry has beaten better opposition, he has been stepping up in class gradually, and in his bout with Ferguson he looked more calm and collected than ever before.markp wrote:Larry is not as good as he is being made out to be here. I agree that Chisora, Sexton, and Fury would beat him and I for one never ranked Jamie Moore as anything more than a good European level fighter.

Also, I think you will find most people on this forum would have the likes of Chisora, Fury, Sexton, and Price beating Larry. That doesn't mean we can't get excited about a guy who puts on an entertaining show and is always trying to get better. Some posters were of the opinion that Jaime Moore would beat Paul Williams. I don't think you will find many posters here who have Larry beating a Klitschko. I don't think Larry is overrated at all.

I think most on the forum think Larry has the beating of Fury/Chisora/Sexton.
Its just not going to happen. In my opinion, he has shown a poor level of improvement in his fights. He fights very amateurishly and seems to not throw punches correctly, especially the jab. It just looks too herky jerky for me and a more natural fighter will mop him up. He just isn't good technically, whereas its plain to see that Towers is miles ahead of him technically. He lost to Peret for christs sake. To be honest, he's a likeable chap, nothing personal.. hes just not a good boxer. Chisora isn't a likeable chap, but I will say hes a decent boxer. He actually summed Larry up best, "that guy with muscles in his head".

Going by the posts made in this thread and previous threads involving Larry, I strongly disagree. For example, not one person in the thread linked below had him beating Tyson Fury.markp wrote:crusader wrote:Also, I think you will find most people on this forum would have the likes of Chisora, Fury, Sexton, and Price beating Larry. Don’t think it’s even that, but why the beat down of the likes of Harrison?
It’s clear most of the world knows nothing about this sport.
Having the world against you in every fight and turning pro @ 30 is not an easy thing even for the best fighter.
