Nothing wrong with what Dilks is asking for. His performance in Prizefighter was very good and he was very unfortunate. He's coming off a KO win and was also very unfortunate against Adamu- I don't blame him for wanting to get a title shot or a meaningful fight.
I'm interested as to why you've reacted this way Right Hook- you don't know Paul Smith, your not linked to any of the fighters he's 'challenged' so why the anger?? Citing a 15 second clip of him sparring for example is hardly going to give you an accurate indication of his ability.
Personally I think Smith, Anderson and Groves will have to much for Carl but it can be argued he's just as deserving a challenger as Darren who has had no fights at the weight. Granted Darren is slightly more impressive to watch.
Its a good thread but no need for bitchy insults from fans- Paul Smith is an articulate bloke and can fight his own battles- as he has done numerous times on here.

like i said if he was a big prospect who people were avoiding then fair enough, but he is far from this, smigga has a rite to reply because in a way it is directed to him, carl should work his way up the ladder and do it the same way every other fighter has had to. to me it is very immature to come on here and call all the s. middle weight fighters out, is it not?
i do not rate dilks as he has never fought any1 worth talking about and any1 who he has fought half decent he has strugled with and had wars with, thats not some1 who should be disrespecting other fighters saying why wont they fight me.
i hope carl proves me wrong and goes on to win titles but i very much doubt he will.
Mate your untitled to your opinion that's wot u think fair enough I carnt ease everyone! The thread wasn't directly aimed at Paul althow I would lime the fight it was aimed at everyone I've been offered fight and accepted everytime but nothing to materilise as for mcdermott I dnt think this fight will happen anyway smoke an mirrors but I'd gladly smash him to bits for the title! An as for making my way up the ladder this is wot this thread is all about I'll fight anyone in the division anybody! I understand wot u are saying Paul about bringing nothing to the table but u say mcdermott brings a title but at which weight? If I was such an easy fight why not prove that I carnt hit an a rubbish fighter have no heart for one u won't because I'm such a bad fighter an it will be a backward step but someone moving up in weight coming off a knockout isn't!
there are better ways to make your way up the ladder than to start a thread saying to all the s,middle weights,
no 1 is avoiding you, because at the min there is nothing to avoid, yes you have been unlucky with people pulling out at the last min, and fights falling through but that doesnt mean you should start a thread calling people out, lets be honest you havnt done anything in the sport at this moment so people are not going to be in a rush to fight you.
you should have a word with your team and get some fights against top 10 names, and if these fights dont happen through 1 way or another fight some good European fighters, and win, then when your a decent name and youv worked your way up the rankings these fighters will have no choice but to fight you,
good luck in your future, hopefully you can prove me and others wrong, but starting threads disrespecting fighters will not do you any favours.

fair point jeff.
im not angry at him i just couldnt believe when i seen a post saying to all s.middle weights.
no 1 is avoiding him coz he hasnt done anything to avoid.
he has been unlucky with poeople pulling out on him fair enough but starting threads like this is not going to help his cause 1 bit, if anything it would do the opposite
i am a huge boxing fan from liverpool so if anything another good fighter out of this city can only be a good thing, but learn to walk before you can run.
do you not think your self that this was a silly thred to start on carls behalf.??
i hear from a great source he has got a big big opponent coming up so leats see how he does against him then we can make our minds up if his mouthing off is valid or not.
good luck to the lad.

Not really mate, if he felt the need to start it then he musn't be happy with the way things are going at the moment. He seems desperate for big fights, that most think he would lose- he should be applauded for that. My thoughts anyway

Not that the McDermott fight is not made, but in my opinion, McDermott beats Dilks all day.
Stronger, hits harder, sharper, faster, far better boxer, better schooled, more heart, a lot less faults, fought better opposition, more title fights and actually holds a title.
I would pick anyone in the current top 13 boxrec rankings to beat him.
besides does it really matter who wins a fight between two guys should should have been beating 3 years ago? McDermott has had 2 fights for the British/Commonwealth titles at Middleweight and both times he got destroyed. The titles he has held are Masters titles. He is the sort of person you should have faced straight away after the contender.
This is another step backwards for Paul Smith. Its a pointless fight in one of the slowest moving careers in British boxing.
also no response regarding Groves.....you really don't fancy that fight do you?? I guarentee that fight sells more tickets, gets more viewers on Sky and more press attention than Darren McDermott. Dilks would also sell more tickets than the McDermott fight.

Funny thread this lads.
If you cant make it happen on telly, then just have a straightener somewhere. Tooled up and that.
Anyway...
Seen I'm not sold on the McD fight to be honest. Smigga, did your team try to go down any other routes after Magee fell through?
I posted elsewhere that I thought you should have gone down the route of trying to get a name to get on the WBO trail like a Lee or a Vera? McD seems an odd choice? Best of luck in the fight and that like, just doesnt really whet my appetite.

That's wot I'm trying to get across in 26 years old I would rather fight the best now than sit around for another year building a padded recoded I rather fight the best now if I'm not good enough then fair enough I can concentrate on other avanues but I think I am good enough given the chance

point of fact, he got Ko'd by Barker but the TKO against Elcock was a cut caused by a headbutt. he was well on the way to stopping Elcock that night, IMO. so he's got destroyed once.

You gotta love people who post on a fight they haven't seen after they view results on Boxrec haven't you? McDermott started the Elcock fight really well, until the cut stopped the fight

I'm not bitter at all mate, and I certainly didn't ruin this thread! This thread IMO should have never started, like iv said before dilks has absolutly no credentials to call any of the top 5 out, he has no title and hasn't beat any1 worth talking about, and to say people are Avoiding him, well I just thought that was ridiculous.
If he goes out and proves him self against some good names then he has the rite to call people out, but untill that time, it is pointless as he has nothing to offer,
I don't see any other boxers from other weights with the same credentials calling people out do u????

like i said before i may have been a bit harsh earlier on, but i think carl shouldnt be calling out any of the top guys till he has done something in the sport or beat some decent names,
as for boxers calling other boxers out, yes it happens all the time but like i said, usually its fighters who have around the same credentials, not some1 who has no big names hes beat on his c.v. and has no titles to offer,
if dilks was unbeaten or was k.oing guys left right and centre i would say fair play to the lad, but hes been beat twice already, and his wins with some of the half decent fighters have been close tough fights, hardly the sign of an accomplished fighter whose been hard done by.

No worries, Elcock is decent though and I rate Barker very highly. I don't think Smith has his accuracy so maybe won't be able to time him the same way with the right hand which completely stopped McDermott from building on anything.
I'm not saying McDermott will win, but people are raving about novices, (most of which don't have fighters as good as Butler and Bendall on their records) as being much, much more deserving. Of course I would rather see him fight Groves, but people seem to be completely over-reacting to this. Smith has had two hard fights in a row, both massive events in his home town. Surely a good style match up against a decent boxer with a couple of good wins isn't too much to ask?

McDermott is a decent defense if your a Lenny Daws/Rob Nortan type British champion with no realistic apirations to move forward. Personally thats where I rate Paul Smith to but we know its not where he rates himself. His win over Quigley was ok, then he takes a step back by fighting a guy Quigley had stopped, now he is fighting someone worse than both. Who is next after McDermott, Paul Samuels???
He is ranked by the WBO and WBC. He should look to improve his ranking by fighting someone else ranked there, or having an eliminator. If McDermott is the best they could come up with there not doing there job properly.
Plus he clearly wants nothing to do with Groves.

For starters, the McDermott fight is NOT made. The smoke and mirrors shout isn't to keep YOU at bay, that's a certainty!
Secondly, he is coming off a win, for an English title that he previously held, beating a man that beat me - say what you want about the decision - I lost the fight according to the only person that mattered! More than you have ever done Carl?
Your shoulda woulda coulda excuses about your losses don't mean a thing trust me.
Thirdly, who on earth have you ever 'smashed to bits' that makes you think you'd do it to me?!
You've spent too long on them doors mate, knocking 8 stone, drunken kids out in town has gone to your head.

McDermott is the English Middleweight champion as well as a former Midlands Area champion. He is not a great opponent for Smith, but he isn't as bad as some are making out.
