It was reported they split on espn, amicably.

I think Lou wanted him to cash in as the fall guy against hot prospects, whereas paulie wants to keep trying to win.

dioufy- count me in as a believer. Gavin's the business. if he's Euro level, Audley is primed to knock out Vitali some time very soon. :TU:

to clarify, i think Frankie called you a pr1ck when you criticised his spelling.

You for real? I'm hung over so if your winding this lefty chap up it's passed me by.

Bomber, you always say how good F. Gavin is and I agree, but does he have the power? Hard to gauge so far as he just kocks the f*ck out of anyone who gets in the ring with him at the moment.

There is no chance I could make lightweight an if I did I wud get knocked out cause would not have nothing in me

You wouldn't get knocked out cos you wouldn't even make it to the ring you dope!!!

Frankie is a 10st fighter, He'll dominate, people are entitled to there opinions but when they actually see him do what he does best they'll all realise why I rave on him so much... :TU:
dont get me wrong i think frankie will do just as good at lww but his power would be more valuable at lw but obviously he can't make that weight, are you tight at 140 frankie?

power isn't everything, just look at ivan calderon, very good fighter, no power what so ever, i think gavins power is average but with the accumulation of shots he will stop alot of his opponents late on.

seeing gavin in press confrences etc. i believe he's a big lww he's really filled out & has a big head & neck. i think because people have seen him compete at the highest level as a lad, it seem's they cant get round he's maturing. he won the world's drained.

terry edwards wanted to move him to lww but the programme had saunders there. i think it was multi nations or some tamar tournament were he struck gold with best boxer of the tournament at lww :OhYes:. i was gutted he never competed in beijing @ l.welter but atleast he got publicity & more reckoning for previous achievment's.

It's time to go Yam busting Frankie! :TU: (sorry CP  )

Nice fight for the Midlands Area title this one.

Midlands area is a million times better than some interconti-bullshite. We done to the matchmaker for avoiding that sort of bollox :TU:

Even on a bill laden with world class fighters, "Funtime" Frankie Gavin will be one of the hottest attractions in his home city of Birmingham on September 18.
The unbeaten seven-fight Gavin guns for the Midlands light-welterweight title held by Wolverhampton brickie Dean Harrison in what amounts to a decent step-up against a former British title challenger with 16 wins out of 20 - his first 10-rounder. Gavin will also prove that he can get down to 10 stone. The highly touted 24-year-old, so quick and sharp in his fledgling career to date, if a little open at times, has never actually got down to light-welterweight as a pro. I broach the subject because Frankie failed to make lightweight for the Beijing Olympics after he was crowned world amateur champion at the weight in 2007, the first British boxer ever to win gold in the worlds. He also won lightweight gold in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Harrison, 26, can hardly match that pedigree but went in with Northern Ireland's Paul McCloskey in that shot at the British light-welterweight title last year - at short notice for the virus-struck Barry Morrison - and was halted in four rounds. Since then Harrison has also been stopped by Darren Askew and outscored by the seasoned Nigel Wright just eight days ago. Clearly, Harrison does not like southpaws. McCloskey, Askew and and Wright are all southpaws, and so is Mr Gavin. The only other man to beat Harrison is Derby's flashy and capable Scott Haywood on a 10-round decision.
Harrison wrested the Midlands title from Ben Lawler in one stunning round earlier this year in his home city. The tough-looking champion certainly gets stuck in, a man for whom the Midlands title means a helluva lot more than it does Gavin. However, he does have a history of marking up and his history against southpaws, as we know, is decidedly iffy. Gavin, arguably the best southpaw counterpuncher in the current domestic ranks, looks set to capture the first of many titles as a pro.

I have to say that I am a little gutted that you are not fighting for the Irish title, would have been good to see you and Kelly duke it out.

Good luck against Dean, I'll still be there to support you.

I don't know who asked it but yes Frankie can hit.. Im not saying he's gonna start wiping people out with 1 head shot BUT he has more thn enough power to hurt fighters and also when he hits them they don't keep rushing in, Frankie has a fantastic engine, all the moves and top defence. Harrison is gonna be punished like never before come the 18th September.... :TU:

He's doing something right and he must hit hard enough; that Steve Saville looked a right handful and after 7 bouts to be boxing a decent lad like Dean Harrison is great. He's getting in with men the same size as him; which not every prospect does. Harrison is very game and it'll be a good bout + I hope the Woodhouse fight comes off after that.

Quite the paradox, my friend.

And regarding Frankie; just to clarify. I think he could win a world-title, but with FWarren, I think maybe I could win a 'world-title' with his precise manufacturing. What I'm saying is that I can't see him being competitive with the elite. It's not just his power that I think is an issue - I believe that he's naturally going to be small for welterweight, and tight at light welter. Those are issues you can't really do too much about. I can, however, see him making a meal out of Hatton, Daws, McIntyre are so forth, but if the Euro scene brightens up, I see him struggling and even maybe losing. Perhaps I see him winning a Euro belt or even a 'world-title,' the Alex Arthur way, but I don't think he'll be a lineal champ. No way, Pedro!

But I've been wrong before, and I'll definitely be wrong gain.
