Those would be the ideal replacements. Khomitski was stopped in his last fight and would never really have a chance at winning. Belghecham would be ok if none of those guys are willing.

Yes but I listed Khomitski [sp] as a last minute opponent who would be willing to fight on the 18th if Macklin was still on the bill. I don't think Lee, Duddy, Murray or McEwan would take the fight on such short notice...

I can see the Cleverly fight falling apart next.

Barker has been out of this fight for along time. not sure why it took so long to sort out. the injury is legit though.

They have two weeks to find a replacement though (more if they already knew about this). There is nothing magnificent about Macklin vs Khomitski, if they don't get Macklin a good replacement for Barker then the PPV figures will be hurt.

Despite an overall great card, this was the fight of the card for me. Gutted and gutted for Macklin too. They'll be hard pressed to find a decent replacement at 2 and half weeks notice. Noticed the good ole "Battersea Bomber" is still fighting.......sure he's past his past but he's durable...wonder if he'd be up for it?

I think the potential PPV sales are severely damaged already. With Barker-Macklin on the bill it shouldn't really have been PPV anyway or maybe it was judging by todays standards of what is considered PPV worthy. Now with Macklin vs TBA or no Macklin at all, it should be pulled from PPV altogether.

Eye damage, cuts, hand trouble I can work out, but the old hip thing has me confused.

The game`s not straight if you knew about it two weeks ago, yet they wait until now to call the fight off. Unless of course they were hoping it would improve enough for him to fight.

Fair enough. Boxers will use there hips an awful lot its a common injury but normally one fighters can shake off. Its probably general wear and tear that has built up over time and caused a problem that cannot be fixed.

Sounds pretty serious. Let`s hope the op sorts it out and he can get back in the ring soon.

Although he struggled in his last fight, I like his style in the ring. Gutted about the fight, would have been a belter.

Barker's team wanted to pull him out 3 weeks ago but he refused. finally the pain got to much and he was forced out on monday. he needs hip surgery. he is genuinely injured and gutted.

had said he will vacate european and let macklin fight for it if he is guaranteed the shot when he returns but macklins team will not agree to it at the moment.

A genuine shame. I was fortunate enough to speak to Darren a few weeks ago now and he seemed so up for the fight so I don't doubt his injury is legit.

I hope they can find a replacement. It's going to be relatively short notice but I'd personally be delighted if Martin Murray got the gig. Nice kid, good fighter, hungry, and far better than what he showed last time out.

Let's wait and see. It's still a good bill but undoubtedly Macklin-Barker was the standout fight.

Thats true - the bloke from my corner shop told me this one late on - mightily p*ssed off I was nowhere near the first with the news!!! - mind you I always enjoy getting my paper from him and hearing the latest boxing news. Keeps telling me about a big show in December/January - everytime I go in he changes his mind which one of those months it is

so thats how you get all your boxing info!!!

How do you know he shifted 2500 tickets? Barker support includes loads of racists boxing better off without them.

Well,ive seen Mitchell live in Manchester and Newcastle and i bet he didnt sell 100 tickets for either.I saw Haye in Huddersfield whilst he was a Euro champ and i bet he didnt sell 20 tickets!To be the best behind them two doesnt indicate that great a ticketseller.If he's that good,why doesnt MH make his next fight for the Excell?they will be turning them away at the door.What happens now with Darrens fans?I dont know if old Fwank will dish out "2500" refunds a fortnight before the fight.Subject to change and all that.

Such a shame would have been the best fight on the card i believe
