I can almost guarantee that over the next 8-10 weeks the nation will be aware of this fight and everyone from Auntie Jean to Donald the postman will have asked you, as a boxing fan, what you think.
It's going to be huge.
My girlfriend is in an airport going to australia today, she saw the yellow bar on sky in the lounge about the fight and sent me a text saying "audley harrison lol". she knows nothing about boxing, she once asked me about amir hammed.
i was speaking my mates this weekend who are casual sports fans. watch valuev but not ruiz. watched hatton vs mayweather but not hatton vs pacquiao. when i told them audley one of them looked at my shocked and one of them laughed.
i havent seen a posative reaction to this fight from one friend or family member.
if you no who audley harrison is, you know how bad he is. just because you have heard of someone doesnt mean your going to pay £15 to watch it.
You underestimate both guys ability to evoke a response in the public and you underestimate Barry Hearn.

I agree completely, an all british heavyweight world title fight will get the whole nation going, but after 6 minutes and the fight is all over, people will ask why?
I think Haye will last longer than that.

Adamek was cut in his last one so may be touch-and-go, Arreola is fat and useless, people may say the same for Big Aud but he is a Brit and the fight will sell massively over here once they both start flapping their gums.
The wondering, often meandering tribe of Big Aud' is back in business, the chosen one has come down from the mountain and he has two stone tablets, his left and right hands, and a message for the people -- "I can do it!"
Come on Big Aud!
I'm a Haye fan also so this is great news

Adamek being cut is a valid reason. Arreola may be fat but tell me who would you put your house on if he were to fight Audley? Exactly.
People can slate Chagaev, Chambers, Arreola and the likes but fact is if these guys were to fight Audley, they would beat him comfortably thats why this fight is a letdown.
I could name 10 heavyweights that are currently available that would beat Audley-
Chagaev, Povetkin, Thompson, Valuev, Arreola, Solis, Helenius, Johnson, Gomez and Ustinov.
Then you have Pulev, Pianeta, Sexton, Holyfield, Chisora, Rahman, Barrett, Banks and probably 5 or 6 others that would provide a 50/50 fight with Big Aud.
Still, it's signed and sealed now. Wonder how the purse is going to be split?
That has absolutely nothing to do with this PPV fight, it is a question of pragmatics. Haye is on good money and is now a PPV fighter. Who is the best bet when it comes to shifting units for this fight? Arreola? A guy who is named after something you find on breasts and has a huge pair of tits of his own. Yeah, he'll have the PPVs flying out.
Chagaev. Hey guys, look at the highlights of this guy's last major fight, he looked terrible against Wlad and barely landed a shot but we'll also throw in some footage of his win over Kali Meehan, that will really get the PPVs flying out.
It is not a case of who could beat Audley, it is a case of who can out-sell Audley when it comes to making the this fight lucrative, and none of the names you mention, bar Holyfield, would fit that bill.
People have the wrong perspective on this fight. It makes sense for a number of reasons.
Haye is going to be slated no matter who he fights as he put so much store into fighting the Klits. This fight makes sense and will be a domestic blockbuster. Bruno was perceived to have little chance against Lewis but the fight caught on as you had a good guy versus a bad guy, in this one you have to guys who occupy both positions depending on perspective. It is a natural fight to make, more so than the ones you've mooted.
I'd prefer to see Haye take on Wlad or Vitali but in this day and age Harrison, Arreola and even Chagaev are much of a muchness.
I understand all of that, I know why this fight is taking place but for me, it still doesn't make it right.
Do you think Audley would beat Arreola or Chambers? Would he beat Chagaev or Povetkin? Of course he wouldn't.
I might be something of an old fashioned fan I guess but I prefer seeing the "champions" fight the best available challengers to see the them tested etc. I don't care much for any fighters bank balance.

My mates haven't been told abut it yet. However, perhaps you'd like to tell me how many of my mates would have even heard about it had Haye signed to fight Arreola, Adamek or Chagaev. They wouldn't even notice. By jimminee, they'll notice this by the time it comes around.

If nothing else its a great advert for Prizefighter. 3 wins against novices earns him a Euro shot against a late replacement of an opponent. Winning that and immediately vacating earns him a world title shot. I'm not knocking Audley, good luck to him.
Haye was always up there with my favourite fighters but I'm getting bored of 'Haye the celebrity' and I can't watch any more of his videos - at least he's fighting again.
Commercially the fight makes sense, but Its a fight Haye could lose (however unlikely it may sound), yet winning won't really improve his legacy. Anything short of any early ko makes Haye look bad. I don't think Aud will get his punches off, it took him two rounds to throw a punch at Colman Barrett who's a lot smaller than Haye, and he didn't want to let them off on Rogan or George Arias either. If Audley stands around waiting, Haye will get the only result that will look good for him, an early stoppage.

Just to be clear here - SKybet ARE offering 7-2 for Haye to KO Audley.....BUT it has to be the exact method of winning (IE a full ten count competed by the ref) not any kind of stoppage, including a TKO, ref stoppage etc.
We rarely actually see a full ten count these days

none of the would know who Ruiz is but it still got 20,000 at the MEN and did well on PPV.
They will notice but they will just laugh it off. you have to be a complete retard to spend £15 on this.

Salient point, I don't often agree with you, but you are correct. I'm an Aussie and I've wanted to see this fight for almost a year, Harrison was the 2000 Super Heavy Champ. Haye is neither the biggest, nor the best in this division. This is a huge fight for England.

I can see Harrison having 'setbacks' in his preperation due to his 'damaged shoulder' causing postponements until Haye says 'get lost then ya bottler' or offer that as an excuse if he does face him..

Thats your choice not to but remember that November 13th is also when:
Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito
Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Ricardo Cardoba
Kelly Pavlik vs tba
so if SKY PPV throw in these fights too then £15 is pretty good value for money.
Should Audley be fighting for a World Heavyweight title....NO
but is it a good thing for British Boxing.....YES
This fight will create loads of headlines for the Media to keep interested and really get behind the fight, Harrison will really go for that fair-weather friend angle and we all know he can talk for England and no matter what he will always be the 2000 Olympic Super Heavyweight Gold Medalist.
Harrison has a chance in this fight, infact any Heavyweight with power will always have a chance against Haye so he could even pull the upset off.

A lot of people have been backing it since it was mentioned. It has shifted in from 7-2 to 11-4 because of weight of money.
