David Haye is a proper gent - he has simply been caught in the heat of the moment wanting to sensationalise what basically is a nothing fight or another way of putting it - a one sided mismatch.

He shouldnt of said it - he is a gent 99% of occasions.

I agree but it was a poor comment. Tyson said he's eat Lennox's childern in the full knowledge he had no children. The BBBC fined him £100k for that comment so let's se if they do likelwise to Haye as in my opinion saying he would violate Audley as well is a far worse comment.

With this and the Hatton coke scandal the Baord have to act or they will be seen as a weak body who are not capable of controlling anything.

Does anybody genuinely see them as anything other than this already?

Could you possibly imagine what he would be like if he did beat Haye - f*cking hell it could possibly have me going into a boxing fans retirement once and for all because I truly could not stand the gloating!!!
That would be the true tragedy of this fight. We must all pray that Harrison does not win as we'd gain a rejuvenated fighter and the possibility of a rematch/trilogy but we'd lose a Spud.

When you put it like that, it does make me worry too. People used to wonder if boxing could prosper once Ali/Leonard/Tyson/De La Hoya retired, yet somehow it did. I doubt if the sport could survive without Spud, though.

Sadly no. If this was the FA, Hatton and Haye would have been given a date to appear already to answer disripute charges. The Board will talk about it, talk about it again, defer it for another month and then, when the dust has settled, do nothing as usual.

Hayte was stupoid and should make a public aplogy and donate some monmey to a woemns refuge to kill it himself. Hatton should hand his licences back and show some class for a change. He has disgraced the sport that made him rich.

Will the board whilst in the mood for 'banning or fining' people take the similar action against promoters who allegedly do not pay fighters what they are owed??????

Or is that asking too much??

W*rren also said, in print, he had heard strong rumours about a boxer and a trainer using PEDs. Surely it is his duty to go to the Board and relay those concerns for the good of the sport. Hey, he might have done so already.

It was a stupid comment but governing the sport and fining boxers in the same way the FA deal with footballers would be detrimental to the good of the sport.

One of the best things about boxing is the fighters can say what they want (in most cases anyway). This helps make interesting articles and generate interest in a sport, which let's face it, interest is declining due to a lack of terrestrial television coverage.

Footballers on the other hand have become boring and shy away from doing interviews that aren't pre-set up as they do not to say something that could lead to them getting in trouble. Media management in football as brought journalist standards down to a poor level and restricted access to players, thus leading to a culture where players are far removed from their fanbase.

I have heard and read about David Haye's "one sided as a gang rape comment" and shook my head and thought this just good old fashioned trash talking that used to drum the ticket sales and the Pay Per View Buys and that is how it should be treated, however there some people who starting screaming hystertically that Haye is a misogynist and all that, those people do not know the first thing about this sport and realise that all sorts of trashing talking like Muhammed Ali descrbing Joe Frazier as a "Guerilla" amongst other things happen in this business. Do I think Haye has alienated people with the gang rape comments, some people but not everyone because they are people who will buy the tickets or the Pay Per View on November 13th to see Audley Harrison's world title dream turn into an utter nightmare by Haye, whether it be a 1st round blowout or a death by a 1,000 jabs victory.

Do I think that Haye is under pressure by talking the fight with Harrison? It is hard to tell in all honesty I think he has to be seen as taking care of business as Harrison said on Sky News with Kay Burley and Haye that he had been chasing Haye for two years to get his chance when he was in no real position to get until he won Prizefighter and beat Michael Sprott to win the European Crown so Haye could no longer avoid him, do I ever think Harrison was deluded in pursuit, never, I was one of the ones thought best of luck in going for your dreams but be prepared for the fall and riddicule if goes wrong, he took the risk and rightly has got his reward in fighting Haye for the WBA crown.

As for Ricky Hatton and his problems with the booze, the cocaine and severe depression, I think that Board have every right to to call a meeting to discuss what the problems that Hatton is currently facing and how he is going to deal with them, and if they think in their judgement, they might ask for progress reports and copies of his medical reports so they can make an more effective judgement on him. As things stand I think being a high profile boxer and promoter with this drug allegations with which he has accused of I think it should be a temporary suspension of his licences subject to further medical treatment and examinations which are the best way forward so he has the time to get right before re-applying for his Licences as a Promoter and boxer when himself got himself sorted out, because it was more harsher punishment it would be a terrible way to treat a man who was been such a great servant for the sport.

I think Ali called Frazier a 'Gorilla'.... there is no implication that Joe was involved in counter-establishment warmonging... :D
