Oh dear.

You obviously don't like the lad but what exactly did you want him to do when the ref waved it off?

You've seen him three or four times, you say. I've seen him plenty. He's good but needs testing. Had it gone on, and had Brook wanted to, he would have broken Jennings up.
I don't think that was worth an "oh dear" to be honest, Ian...

You lot seem to love the guy, I don't, and I admitted I've only seen him three or four times and don't get what the hype is about.

I'm merely going against the grain and fail to see anything too special in him.

And how have I shown sour grapes? I like Jennings, in and out of the ring he's a class act, but I can see Brook is a good fighter, just not a great one in my opinion.

If I'm proved wrong I'll hold my hands up and admit it, unlike many on here.

PS It's probably his attitude more than anything, really touched a nerve with me on Saturday night......that and the lack of sleep, the wonders of colic :(

Anyway, we'll all agree to disagree, I'll try and catch his next few fights.

My thoughts as well, he was just cranking up the gears when the fight was stopped

I have not seen Brook fight that many times for whatever reason so I may not be the best judge but I was a little underwhelmed to be honest.

Not busy enough (however looked decent when he did open up) and the power may be a little over rated.

However, he does have a good record domestically in that he has stopped some good level British fighters now.

Coupled with Jennings being a smart fighter and not easy to look good against you do have to give Brook some credit.

Although I am more excited by Cleverly and Degale at the moment. These 2 look very special IMO

It was certainly an unsatisfactory ending, but you did feel Brook was beginning to step it up. He certainly didn't quite live upto expectation though, Jennings made him miss a lot more than i expected.

I personally believe Brook's level is and will remain British/European rather than anything beyond that. He's good but not somebody who could really shine away from these shores.
british level? he has EASILY beat the best welters in britain.......he is defintly the best in europe.

What I was a little bit dissapointed in, was the power. I think I bought the hype a little bit, with the Elwell, Lomax and McIntyre performances - he seemed as strong as an ox that night... flooring them with jabs etc.

I know I'm doing Michael a big disservice but I expected Brook to be hurting Michael far more easily than he did. I really couldn't see anything Michael's game to worry Kell. I didn't think he carried the fire power or the punch resistance to worry Kell. Michael is excellent at what he does, and usually has the workrate and speed to outwork domestic level opponents. However, there has been a few times where he has been badly hurt in fights and it's a little alarming for the future that it seemed like Kell couldn't hurt him.

He's still very strong for the weight, but he needs to be matched carefully before going into PROPER world class. Maybe a couple of fights against domestic level Light Middles, to see what he is going to be like when he cannot bully his opponent. If he cannot really stun Jennings, then what is someone like Berto going to be like.
Disappointed in Brook ?
Why ? You tipped him to lose.

:bag:
No I didn't - I was one of those ones who thought it would be a relative blow out for Brook. I expected him to smash Jennings.
My apologies stu. Too many head shots. :TU:

Hey, it's that site again. I refuse to go to Boxing News 24 ever again. It's the worst boxing "news" site out there. Just a bunch of opinions from amateur writers, most of who write terrible things. I've banned it from my NewsNow boxing section.

Prior to writing articles on a boxer’s performances I suggest you learn something about the sport. I have seen both Mike Jennings and Krzysztof Bienias fight and they are very good. However, at the Magnificent 7 Mike Jennings and Bienias prior to that, didn’t come to fight. They used every bit of their considerable skill and experience to dodge and run and in Bienias’ case to imitate a tortoise going into its shell. It is difficult for any boxer to look good when faced with such tactics from very experienced opponents. Cutting the angles is fairly easy when facing less skilled exponents but not so easy when good fighters decide to go into reverse. The cut to Jennings eye was not bad enough to stop the fight in my opinion and I was ring side on the night, but when Terry O’Connor called time out in order to get the Doctor to check it, Brian Hughes called the fight off straight away, long before he had examined the cut and before Jennings got back to his corner. The Jennings camp had seen enough and weren’t prepared to see Brook really get stuck into Jennings. The bottom line is Brook stopped Jennings as quickly as Cotto did, 5th round. You can comment when you have seen Brook when he eventually faces someone who comes to fight and not run away. Until then just keep quiet, you make yourself look like an idiot.

I say this guy has it spot on. :OhYes:
