Smith may be looking at it as a good move. Degale is only going to get better with each fight. Fighting him now gives Smith the best chance of beating him. The problem is, Degale is already better than him.

I would be surprised if Warren made this match. If Smith gets a pasting (and I expect him to), where does he go ? There are a group of Liverpool fighters on the scene at the moment who can sell tickets; with Smith arguably having the biggest profile - it doesn't really make sense for Warren to make this match and potentially break that up.

It elevates Degale. Degale is ready to move up a bit and this will only bring more publicity and status for him. Warren is feeding him Smith to build him up. Smith is having wars at domestic level, Warren probably thinks he could lose to Magee or Sartisan if stepped up whereas Degale has more potential. Seriously, who do you think Warren is going to be shouting advice to at ringside?

but it is natural to feel warren dont rate smith if he is a stepping stone.
