Anyway, for what it's worth - Earl aside - I'd agree with the overall view that Khan can bang, but is not a concussive puncher. He's a lot like Bradley in that respect.

I believe Bradley is the only (realistic) opponent at the weight who would beat him.

In one respect he is right he certainly has the resources to be a big puncher.....but like you i agree he shouldnt talk like he is the finished article....its just he hasnt used those resources properly up to now even tho he is a pro for 5 years now and not a "kid" anymore.......Khan doesnt really plant his feet enough to punch he prefers to go for speed and a high work rate....... he should make the step up to now thinking a bit more not being so dumb in the ring as he has shown some times, he should start planting his feet more at specific times in a fight, learn to pace himself and take a breather ,putting his full power in single shots when he sees the opening....all the greats like SRL could do this....SR was a fine great great technician and boxer but man he could take guys out with single shots when he needed it.......NAZ was also adept at this at a lesser level.....and its something Khan really needs to do rather than talking otherwise its a waste of his resources. I felt he could and should have taken out Malignaggi earlier like this.

He needs to plant a Bradley or Maidana out with a single shot the way Nunn took out Kalambay to really show people that dimension in him....instead of talking like he got it made already

He cant really afford to do that though as if he he plants his feet then he's static which makes him an easier target to hit and thus potentially knock out with his suspect chin!

Yep, some really good points there. Don't you think the Nunn punch was a bit of fluke though given that it didn't really mark a big change in hs style but was more of an anomoly?
I think a better benchmark is Honeyghan, who was initially more of a boxer, but then started sitting down on his shots more and taking men out as a result?

I think Ortiz is a bigger threat. I think Bradley size and style match up quite nicely for Khan. Ortiz, however, is big, strong, fast and accurate. He'll land on Khan and then...

That may will be why!!!...

Tommy Hearns is the ultimate guy who made the transition from boxer to puncher even tho his chin was somewhat suspect and to a lesser extent Lennox Lewis used to move around and Manny Steward got him to become a guy who could really unload in spurts and stand there and his chin has been questioned..but i see your point totally and its one time will tell ...
Michael Nunn looked to have made the transition to puncher after he won the title but ultimately as we know it wasnt the case..........yep Honeyghan is a great comparison......justas long as Amir doesnt think he can fight everyone the way Lllord did which contributed greatly to his downfalll

Yep, you're completely right - he did a bit of a Naz and fell in love with banging guys out and so when he came up against a cute boxer like Starling he got horribly dissected. The earlier version of Honeyghan would have given Starling a far sterner argument rather than just charging in and getting picked off.

Flattened might not be the word then.....but you get the point :)

One thing to add to the Earl debate.

His team, coach, everyone around him said if you fight on against Khan your going to get horribly hurt. Your punch resistance has gone and your not 100% 'all there' anymore.

When he declared he was fighting on, they all resigned from being part of his team.

He then got flattened, exactly as forecasted by his former team.
