Are you sure it was a refusal to comment? They just said that he didn't comment. They didn't even say that he was asked about it.

What a coincidence. 24 hours after Harrison reveals that Thompson drops Haye in sparring we have a statement from Thompson about great Haye has been looking.

The obvious conclusion to draw is that Haye has a weakness when it comes to men called Thompson: first Carl, now Tony. Audley barely needs to train, he could just have his surname changed.

No, but neither was Lolenga Mock. Harrison has the better chin in this fight, I don't think you'd see Audley put over by a super middle.
That's quite true - however, Haye's greater power, means that in terms of punch resistance, this is pretty even. Haye hits hard enough with single shots to ice Audley completely.

Haye, although his chin is not the best, does seem to recover pretty well. He was pretty much gone against Lolenga Mock, and barely made it up, having to take a knee halfway through the count, and still went on to win.

Audley can't really be called chinny per se, as the shot Sprott hit him with, he never saw coming. However, we've seen hit staggered by relatively ineffectual shots before (was it Ellis?), and the fact he fights like a man who seems scared of being tagged, suggests he knows it is a weakness.

Hunter S. would've taken him.

Yes, but the press release was obviously put out there by his employers, as a response to Audley's taunts yesterday. So you'd think he'd at least comment on the main topic of conversation, which was the knockdown.

Yep, I agree with all that. The punch resistance thing seems to even things up, in terms of who holds the big punch in this one. I've no doubt Haye would cold cock Aud if he lands first, but it could well be the other way round.

Much as I love David Haye, I reckon he's an accident waiting to happen at heavyweight. I'm going for Audley inside the distance at 7/1.

But I'd like to see DH win, as I'd love to see him roll the dice with Wlad. Whereas I'd give Aud zero chance v big Wlad.

But you have to hand it to Haye, he fights back well when dropped. Three times he's come back to win ( I count the Barrett one as a KD ) and he was ice cool when he came back to stop Mormeck in the lion's den - that shows guts alright.

But he's never really been hit at heavyweight, so if Audley lands a big left hand, it could well be the hardest we've seen DH hit as a pro.

I agree MW, but could you imagine the size of the queue if Big Aud did do it. I really cannot see any way Aud doing it than a one punch KO. The queue lining up to fight Aud would be massive. I would still tip Rogan to beat Aud, but give Aud more chance against Haye - all about styles.

I'm not convinced about Haye's chin, or how he will fair against big Heavyweights. Yeah, he's fought the biggest of the lot - but that was far from convincing.

Spot on- Hayemaker PR are right on it, Tony T publicly 'bigging up' Haye the day after it was revealed he dropped him in sparring.

Of course it could also be a double bluff ! Like they did with the weight issue on Macca, but I doubt it. He wont like it, just like Hide hated Williams saying he dropped him in sparring. It just gives his rivals confidence.

What next, Dave climbs though a window, heads for a night club and disappears for two days?

No big deal IMO.
Greg page dropped Tyson in late 1989 before the Douglas fight. Tysons got a cast iron chin, Haye hasnt.

Sparring means little.

having said that Audley has every chance to KO Haye.

Its a 50/50 fight.

That's Thomson Local, boss.

Although if that spelling applies too then I bet I know which travel agents he doesn't use for his trips to Cyprus.

(We probably aren't going to get anything else out of this joke now. If, indeed, we ever did. I can only apologise).

Haye beats Valuev and is world title holder with victories over "top 15" fighters, not to mention former undisputed cruiserweight champion.

Harrison losses against Rogan, Sprott, williams and to be honest I thoguht Coleman Barret wasnt doing too badly in the final against him until harrison nailed him.

Muhammad Ali used to get a tough time in sparring from a young Larry Holmes apparently. I wouldn't be surprised Haye got knocked down, I mean, he's a small heavyweight fighting juggernauts.

I bet there's not a top fighter on the planet who's not had a bad day or been knocked down in sparring.

This just adds to the pre-fight hubbub. But Haye's still gonna marmalise big Aud.

Ali used to effectively let his sparring partners tee off on him, so he could toughen himself up and get used to the punishment. It's been opined by some that this may be partly why he ended up with so much neural damage.

And neither, really, is Harrison.

Danny Flexen raised the point on his blog about people talking up Audley's "puncher's chance", but let's not forget it was the supposed LACK of a killer punch that a lot of people criticised him for through much of his career.

Admittedly, the Prizefighter and Sprott wins showed a previously little-seen ability to score knockdowns and knockouts from single shots, but overall I wouldn't file him under "big puncher".

Haye has just denied being knocked down by Thompson in a blog on the Sky Sports website.
