Withhold his purse. They should give him a purse, a big pink one with matching heels and a frock.
He shouldn't get his purse withheld. That is for non-triers. He did try, he was just useless.
He also got up after being knocked down, which if he didn't want to try, he wouldn't.
Nothing in Harrison's career suggested he deserved to be in the ring with Haye. Bottom line is, if you bought the hype, you've only got yourself to blame.
Haye deserves criticism for deliberately picking an easy victim, but if anyone bought this, but did not buy the Magnificent Seven, you're not a boxing fan.

no chance he gets he purse withheld. like others said he tried but was totally outclassed.
if you start to withhold purses for getting outclassed 50% of the imported opponents would be going home with nothing

Yeah, I co-sign this statement... What did people expect to happen??? Harrison fought way above his class... The board should Be punished if anything for allowing such A mismatch to happen...

You can't withhold a fighters purse just for putting in a sub-standard performance. It would set a very dodgy precident- what about people who were knocked out in round one etc?

Good question. In such cases, where does the money go? Does anybody know?
Anyway it is the promoter - in this case Hayemaker - who pays, so is in effect the employer. The paying fans can rightly feel aggrieved with Harrison, but I'm sure Hayemaker Promotions will feel they got value for their million pounds, because Harrison did a great deal to sell the fight.

That is absolutely appalling. The card itself was no great shakes, but to show only two fights from it?? That's an even bigger con job than Harrison's performance IMO. What possible excuse does Sky have? Since it was on SBO, they didn't have to worry about time limits. The Haye-Ruiz undercard was pretty poor but at least four fights were broadcast.

Yep, Williams evidently didn't even train for that fight and on the night he did very little (still more than Harrison, admittedly, but he didn't seem to be interested in winning).
I've said it many times - Williams has done plenty of questionable things in his career, including some of the same things Harrison has been criticised for, but the fans will forgive him anything.

He looked very upset in the post fight interview, he'd clearly been crying, you could see the tear streaks. So he clearly felt humiliated, which then begs the question, why on earth did he not try to actually fight?
He completely froze. He managed to convince himself before the fight he was going to win. I don't think it was just a sales pitch, I think he actually thought he was going to win, even though he didn't really have any idea how it would actually transpire.
As soon as the bell went though, he reverted to type, a huge great cissy. I mean seriously, I could have made more of a go of it. Sure I'd have got knocked out but christ, I could have swung few shots Haye's way at least before being rendered unconscious.
He didn't even run away or defend himself well, he just stood there rooted to the spot getting hammered senseless. Not even the nous to hold. A truly pathetic spectacle.
I don't know if they can or will withold his purse, either way, Audley, please just do us a favour and fekk off. Take up another sport more suited to your persona, like Olympic bullshitting, or tiddlywinks.
I Wonder if it had been a sparring session in the gym if it would have been the same ? or Audreys nerves really get to him and he cant channel it as aggrssion. Still dont agree that what he was doing was a gameplan ! any fit lad could go for 20 rounds shuffling round a ring after a 6'6 retreating shitebag, fair enough if he was leaning and pawing all over Haye but he wasnt a very strange spectacle made worse by the fact that it cost £15

I agree. I've seen far, far worse. Remember that guy Naz fought years ago. walked up to him, one punch, didn't look hard, fight over. What about Maloney's Latvian lemmings or Tyson Vs Seldon or Tyson Vs Golota? What about Haye Vs Gurov? There's so many cases. Haye caught Audley with several flush shots and he went down. Audley got up and Haye literally beat the snot out of him and the ref jumped in. If Audley wasn't trying he wouldn't have gotten up to take more punishment.
people are angry because they bought into the hype. That's their fault not Audley's. He put in the hard work and training, hyped the fight, turned up and got beat. It's not Audley's fault he's levels below Haye, it's the BBBC's, for allowing it, Sky for pushing the fight and punters for buying it. Audley has shown nothing in his career to suggest he could beat Haye and so it happened.
Audley performed all the duties he was contractually bound to, so pay the man.

Oliverfennell, This isn't about Danny Williams, it about that pathetic excuse for a boxer, Audley Harrison. Danny's had his share of flops in the pro ranks, but he's also had his share of amazing nights too...Audley has not. How you can compare the two beggers belief.

To be fair, I didn't raise the point, I was merely agreeing with someone else who did.
I agree Williams has achieved more and of course his "ups" compensate for a lot of his "downs". I was as big a fan of his as anybody. But that doesn't mean he's blameless.

I'd be interested to know where you think Audley should go from here.
Personally, I don't think he should retire. I think he might be able to salvage something if he went back to the British title mix and roughed it out with the leading British title contenders and try to win a Lonsdale belt...and keep his big mouth shut whilst doing all this.

He's tarnished & really cannot continue in the fight game.
Real boxing fans have always known what a disappointment he is, but now casual boxing fans who were duped into buying PPV & bought into the ludicrous hype that this was somehow a competitive Battle Of Britain also know the true nature of Mr Harrison.
Once you've burned your bridges with ardent & casual boxing fans, it's time to seek alternative employment.

I've had a little think about this and I believe that a good chunk of Audley's purse should be rescinded. I don't believe he is suffering from mental illness (can't believe that's seriously been brought into this), but we KNOW from past performance that this was typical, typical Audley. He didn't freeze on the studio sofas of Great Britain telling everybody who would listen to open their cheque books and buy his sham fight.....there was no possibility that he would serve up anything other than this. If he can't be arsed to engage with Dominic Guinn, Martin Rogan, Michael Sprott.....why the fck is he suddenly going to step on the firing range with David Haye????
His plan was to survive (literally) and make a million pounds. Cold, calculated, simple. That shouldn't be allowed.
He isn't the only party to blame......as James Lawton in the Independent summed up my views it was a crime against boxing in which all involved were complicit.
A MASSIVE chunk of that purse wants going to the NSPCC or something like that, not to Fr- Audley Harrison!

Fight was sanctioned by the WBA and promoted by Haymaker. The BBBC haven't been anywhere near the cash, so how can they withhold it?

If the world title was his one and only ambition, then he should retire. Even if he somehow believes he's still capable of that, he must know the road to another shot is all-but impossible to negotiate not only in terms of gaining the necessary results, but in terms of the time it would take. At 39, that's just not feasible.
If he accepts this goal is out of his reach, then he can still be a viable British/Commonwealth/European-level competitor, or mix it up with any of the numerous younger UK heavyweights. And it's not a stretch to imagine him beating some or even most of them. He was terrible on Saturday, sure, but when we separate our outrage from the bare result, losing in three rounds to David Haye is not an atrocious result and it certainly is no proof that he can't beat the inexperienced likes of Price, Fury, Olumabiwo, Chisora, etc. Of course, he didn't beat the inexperienced likes of Rogan, but I'm just saying losing to a world champion doesn't automatically mean he'll lose a couple of levels down.
One thing he'll have to bear in mind on this route, though, is that he'll be subjected to even more booing and crowd invective than ever before. Some fighters thrive on that, but he doesn't. He'll be fighting in a very spiteful atmosphere if he performs in Britain again, so he'll have to consider if he can cope with that.
With that in mind, perhaps he could go down the Germany route instead. Plenty of good names to mix with there, and it would be lucrative, win or lose. On top of that, the crowd would not be so hard him because a) he'd be a foreigner and the "opponent", and b) the German fans are more tolerant of technical/cautious boxing.

He hurt them where it hurts the most - in the wallet!
You can forgive Tyson ripping off body parts and Margarito trying to plaster his hands - just don't make us part with our 15 quid!
