See if you have a BM magazine subscription does this allow you yo have the iPad downloads or are the two completely different subscriptions??

And no Jeff, it's a separate subscription to the mag - nice try though lol!

The kindle is a quality piece od kit but not really suited to magazines in my opinion.

Some of the iPad magazines are fantastic; Empire and the Aussie sports mag Alpha are two of my favourites. The boxing monthly app is ok but doesn't really make use of the iPads capabilities in the same way that the titles I've mentioned do. It might be something that develops over time though

RJP - any pointers would be much appreciated mate. As I've said, this really isn't my field and we outsource the production and management of the app to another company, so if you think there's something we could be doing that we're not, please let me know — that goes for all of you, I want to get this right. One limitation that will always remain, however, is that the app will just be the mag in computer form — there will never, as far as I can see at the moment anyway, be extra copy, articles, pics etc. This could change at some point down the line if the app proves highly successful, but for now it is what it is. Thanks.

It's not really a case of providing extra copy; more a case of fitting existing copy more effectively onto the electronic format (ie, tinkering with page layouts and menus etc). The only addition I'd like to see is a gallery to make use of the iPad's hd display.

The best advice I could give would be to get hold of an iPad a d check out the magazines I mentioned + the sunday times, which is another brilliantly designed app.

Rome wasn't built in a day though.

Our original hope was to have the app go across all the various bits of kit available, but it seems the people handling it can't put it on Kindle, 'different technology'. Am I right in saying that Kindle is a text only thing, no pictures, graphics etc?
I got a Kindle for Christmas and love it. Not sure I'd prefer my BM on it though - can't read it in the bath and wouldn't get the full effect of Chris' first rate photos in black & white.

Anyone tried the new digital version of The Ring magazine on the iPad?
Seems to be terrible. Hopefully they come out with a proper app for the iPad.

Anyone who wants to try it can download Feb's issue free from the ring website just now.
Not as good as BM's tho!
