Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if Vlad and his team only took the fight against a Brit/Warren fighter as an attempt to pressure Haye and his team into putting pen to paper?
Haye and co love nothing more than getting one over on Warren and the promise that Vlad would leave Chisora in the lurch if Haye committed could have been the tipping point if they'd managed to surmount the financial obstacles?
I'm not convinced myself, however I am absolutely convinced it's not a genuine injury and given that I can't see how anything other than the Haye deal being done would have led to it....

Will Chisora get paid?

That would be logical. Even an 8x3 would give Del a run out after all his training, and a modest payday (better than nothing). Plenty of domestic or Euro heavies who could take the job, even at late notice.

and to think it was only 3 days ago that Wlad was laughing at Haye withdrawing from a fight with a 'back' injury

Don't boxers before big fights always wind down their training 7 days before. This is why I find it hard to believe this injury has really occured.

Agree 100%. Wlad always does a proper taper, so I don't believe for one minute he was going hammer and tong on the pads after the public workout. Yes, injuries can happen but I don't but into this one - and I am a bone fide Klithugger. Wladimir vs Haye in the spring.

Anyhow, it's a terrible pity for Chisora and I hope he still receives a decent pot of change from K2. It's even more of a pity for me, though! I was/am due to fly out to Germany tonight. I will more than likely still go, because I'm not just going for the boxing, but my Saturday night plans may no longer involve boxing.
Yeah I've said it before, Chisora winning this fight (small chance though it would have been) would have completely fu*ked things up for Haye, with the next year being taken up with Chisora fights against the brothers and a Haye fight losing loads of appeal.

Chisora should thank his lucky stars. He was in for a sustained beating on Saturday night. He is miles to slow to get past Wlad's jab/left hook.

i like chisora has looked calm and collected not afraid or fazed in anyway i respect that massively when faced with such a big chalenge and how is it that klitschko's back has withheld weeks of punishment getting into shape 4 this fight and 3 days b4 when all the hard work has been done he gets injured i feel really sorry 4 chisora hes had 2 get himself in tremendous physical and mental shape 4 this and it ends as a massive anti climax

It looks like there's no chance of Chisora fighting on the Liverpool bill. The best bet is now switching to Vitali next year.

I am still going to Germany - in a couple of hours. I was originally going with my girlfriend to take her Christmas shopping, meet up with a few old pals who live there, and watch Wlad. However, since I bought my tickets (plural), I have split up with my girlfriend and Wlad has dropped out.

It will still be a good weekend. Germany is a cracking place to spend a few days.
Your had a few let downs then...ENJOY your weekend mate :TU:

Del boy's got no chance against Vitali unless I'm missing something, at least he'd got a ticket to the lottery with Vlad's chin.
They've seen something in Del that marks him out as a danger though.
