Direct Messages Khan on twitter to say that he hasn't been slagging him off and it's all the press and then starts calling out Paulie M on Twitter and saying that Khan is running from him. Embarrassing behaviour.
I keep saying it but he needs to step up and fight someone of value before he starts giving it the big one. He owes Jennings a rematch for a start and then maybe he should be aiming at Matthew Hatton (even though that's not a major challenge).
British Welterweight scene isn't that hot but he needs to try and get in the ring with some of the up and coming Americans if he wants to get in the mix, but fighting the 6th best Welterweight in Ghana and blathering on about fighting Khan, Pac etc is just making him look stupid.
It's not like he's disposing of the bums he's been fighting in spectacular style or showing any sort of charisma or "x factor" like we've already seen from DeGale. It was obvious that Naz was a star after about 6 fights so apart from being from Sheffield and the Ingle camp , christ knows where those comparisons come from.
Too many fighters think that talking the talk is the way to promote themselves nowadays. Groves and Brook 2 of the worst for speaking a good game and then throwing out domestic level performances.
Btw, you didn't answer the question on the awards thread. Who would you have voted for other than Groves?
I don't follow Twitter so don't really know what's what in that regard.
However - when was the last time Brook put in a 'domestic level performance'? He smashed the last out of his depth guy, took a while to warm up against Jennings which then ended unsatisfactorily, stopped an ultra-negative Bienias in six and before then smashed Lomax, Elwell, and McIntyre. In fact, the last three names there simply prove he hasn't been putting in domestic level performances, as far as I see.
But, of course, you're right - he has to step up.

Personally i would rather see Khan fight Brook than fight Judah or Katsidis. Would also bring an even media atention to Khan than he already has. I also think Brook's non stop winding up could push Khan to just accepting the fight to shut him up

just answered the awards thread - just notice the exact age rule
I see where you're coming from on Brook, and it's symptomatic of welterweight being a relatively poor division in the UK at the moment that he has been smashing whats put in front of him, but none of it very impressive. Jennings was his first real challenge and as you say, it ended unsatisfactorily, and unless FW can provide him with a meaningful step up in opponent then a rematch for Mick is going to have much more purpose than another bum brought in to improve his unbeaten record.
Like both Mitchell and Murray, it just feels like too long treading water and at least Mitchell had a couple of wars along the wa to his (sadly unsuccessful) step up. Khan moved much faster than this, DeGale is flying, Cleverly heading in the right direction far quicker, but really needs that shot at the World Title now otherwise he faces being on the outside of the big fights in that division.
I've been frustrated by seeing Brooks' last few fights, they've told us very little and certainly not enough for him to expect a fighter in Khan's position now in this business to even have him on his radar for the next 3-5 fights.
Khan (and Paulie for that matter) have got to fight HBO approved fighters now and ones that they and their promoters/teams honestly think will continue to advance their profile.
Brook has zero profile even in the UK. A Kell Brook headline show would be York Hall at best unless he was fighting a name bigger than his own. The Mag 7 bills make sense for building a rapport between hardcore boxing fans and FW's prospects, but they really need to be in exciting fights and shine for their profile to grow enough for them to be on the wider radar. The Olympians have a publicity advantage, especially DeGale, but he's also delivered the goods in the ring and has charisma, Haye has played the game and given us explosive and exciting fights, Froch has done it the hard way and still doesn't have the recognition he deserves. Outside of that, what active British fighters really are a draw? The promoters are scared that the fighters will be poached because GoldenBoy/Top Rank etc have no scruples on that front and can probably point to several examples of the exposure they can bring to their fighters, the matches they can make and the TV deals they have in the bag
I realise i've rambled but basically I think theres a lot of bluster around Kell Brook and he needs to show us something to back it up. DeGale has done that in less than half the time/fights. Going on twitter and calling out other fighters who are either ex or current World Champions and who have mixed it at the top level is just not the way to do it IMHO. Get your promoter to make meaningful fights, do the business in the ring and make yourself an attraction. DeGale pushed FW to make the Smith fight and not another pointless tune up - he's fast tracked himself and people are taking notice - I suppose the nearest that Brook could do is to somehow persuade FW/Hatton to make the Matthew Hatton fight but can't see that happening for all sorts of reasons.
As I said before he probably needs FW to make him a fight with a US fighter with a good record on his way down, or another in a similar position to himself on the way up. Pirog taking out Danny Jacobs was an example of how to burst onto the scene by getting in with a hotly tipped prospect and taking him to pieces.
Khan is in a different league now and it's up to Kell to get into that league, not to try and embarrass his way to a shot at a fighter who has already proven his capabilities at elite level.

Kell is desperate to step a level and has been for years, literally.
I know that FW is very aware of Kell's ambition and has publicly stated that Kell needs to be patient.
FW has also tried hard to tempt big names to fight Kell but with no success. The Matthew Hatton fight would make lots of sense because if Kell won and got the Euro title he would then get a ranking with all the major bodies, not just the WBO. This would obviously then give him a lot of options to move towards a world title fight.
I dont think the WBO belt is gonna become vacant anytime soon as they are not keen on stripping Pacman due to the profile and cash he provides them with when he fights for the belt. Pacman would obviously not bother with fighting Kell as at this stage he wants mega-fights, not defences against relatively unknown contenders.
Arum has, of course, got Pacman but he's also got Mike Jones and good contacts at the WBO so - who knows - maybe Pcaman will hold on to the belt until Jones is ready to step in. Brook v Jones is an appealing fight for that belt but not one, i would suggest, that Arum would necessarily fancy.
Therefore all Kell can do is continue to beat whoever is put in front of him. Other than the disappointing fight and performance against Jennings, i think Kell has looked sparkling against every single opponent he has faced at title level. I also think - a purely personal view - that he would easily beat Amir.
I cant quite understand how Amir has suddenly transcended to some Carl Froch type level of credibility - he's only beaten one truly live opponenent, and even then he made harder work of it than necessary (Maidana). He did, though, prove his opunch resistance has improved beyond recognition. He must be some 'conditioner' that Alex Ariza because I can remember a time when blown-up super feather Willie Limond had him absolutely all over the place.
Anyway, it's all conjecture because this fight wont be made yet. I would like to see Kell box Malignaggi, Hatton, Ndou or Baldomir next so that we can see a true point of comparison for Kell with other fighters. I think Kell beats all these guys easily but only time will tell.
Maybe if Kell does keep winning and get himself a world title at welterweight then the Khan fight becomes a reality in 2012. But i have to say i suspect that Amir will always find a reason not to box Kell. Hope I'm wrong.

Probably Jennings, but he didn't turn up.
Brooks opposition has been ridiculous. His last opponent just broke into the top 500 at LMW I believe, and on top looked drained at WW and like his legs couldn't support him.

Fair enough if you believe he has the tools to beat him, but to do it "easily" is a big shout.
If he can do a number on Hatton then look good vs a Paulie or Baldomir then he is certainly deserving of a world title shot.

Kotelnik is no mug and neither is Paulie. To say Amir has only fought 1 live opponent is just not true.
Even Barrera, despite being blown up and past his best was only 12 months on from taking Pacman 12 rounds - i'll stop short of including him in the list even though as one of my favourite fighters of all time I think without the cut that fight wouldn't have been as quick and easy.

Brook hasnt even proved himself the best at 147 in Britain.
He has to beat Witter to sttle that IMO.
Why dont they make the Witter fight???

I think there is more of a case for Matthew Hatton being the #1 Welterweight in the country than a fighter who has never fought at the devision - just has said that he would.

A few people should read a bit between the lines and realise the need for fighters to create hype this sells tickets and gain publicity kell's a great fighter who i believe would give khan a stiff test but this fight is way off and will be a multi million pound fight if brook fights khan as a world champion its too dangerous a fight for either of them now and also would not generate enough revenue for khan to consider it now .ps jennings was getting beat not taking anything away from him he is a warrior but was getting beat

feels more like Brook trying to be Junior Witter to Amir Khan's Ricky Hatton to me.
As for beating Mick Jennings....how? Hardly a punch had been thrown either way, the fight hadn't even warmed up!! Mick's a smart fighter and Brook is no Cotto.
Having said all this reading the rumours Golden Boy are letting out about a possible Khan v Marquez fight later in the year now I start to despair of Khan. They've talked about cleaning up their division and the only way to do that is to fight the winner of Bradley v Alexander and work out who really is the top Jr Welterweight in the world. Clearly G.B. want to make the Marquez fight because it's in house, Marquez wants it as he wants the most straightforward shot at a title in another weight class and can probably see more flaws in Amir than in Bradley/Alexander (and obviously easier to make because of GB), Team Khan want it because they know that Khan will be much bigger than Marquez come fight night and JMM is losing speed (slowly admittedly) but also will be operating outside his comfort zone - at lightweight JMM probably wins as Amir would be drained and JMM is a master at the weight but we saw how a pumped up Marquez isn't effective before.
Truth is at this stage of his career, it's probably a step too far for JMM even though I still think when operating at lightweight he's in the Top 5 lb for lb in the world easily...maybe he'll confound us all like Old Man Hopkins though..
Point is anyway Khan at this point should be going after the belts in his division against the top men, especially if he's talking about moving up to 147. If he avoids the Bradley/Alexander fight then it's a blight on his legacy
Brook meanwhile should fight some proven Welterweights instead of chasing around the champion of a lower weightclass to get cheap publicity.
PS what about Brook fighting someone like Clottey?

Fair enough, i personallythnk that kell would stop amir but of course it wouldnt be easy. Didnt express myself properly.
On another point, no way will Kell and Junior box each other - never in a million years. They are long term friends and stablemates and both trained by the Ingles. This fight is a total non-starter.
PS would love to see Junior v Hatton, very sellable fight in my view and makes sense commerically and professionally to all parties. Why not do the fight?

clottey is a good shout i hope that frank doesnt just pile all his efforts into degale who no doubt will drop him quicker than khan did. Kell deserves a push promotion wise he needs a big name with genuine credibility to show what he can do and has done all thats asked of him jennings was supposed to be a test and step up i felt kell gave him too much respect as i said micheal jennings is a warrior but well past his best and has had some hammer IMO a rematch would result in jennings bravery and guts seeing him hurt if there had been no cut thats how i saw it going but i bet kell would be up for the rematch i would rather see that than another pretender getting sparked

I agree with Ian re his assessment of Alvarez. Cannot say I am as overly impressed as the media seem to be on him. Oversly has some good power, but doesn't seem to be "special" in any department. He is only 20 though.
I think he is going to be a massive Welterweight already, and at 20 don't think he will be at the devision for very long.

The guy on Twitter is NOT Kell Brook - it's an imposter and was asked to turn it off.
Same goes for Darth Vader and HRH The Queen, they are not genuine.
