Is it clear how much the purse is? People do have family to feed etc.
so no money is better than some?

Would you fight John Murray for 2.50 (I'm not suggesting thats the figure naturally)?

I wouldn't blame some fighters for pack it in if they are not getting paid enough.

It depends on your individual circumstances; if you're offered what you consider short money for a job you can say no if you want. If Mitchell feels he should be getting more then there should be a negotiation process. Both promoter and boxer are professionals offering their respective services.

(I think there is more to it than money; FW said on the BBC link above that Mitchell had been checked out by a specialist, (presumably an eye consultant a year ago, that was before the Katsidis bout. Didn't FW or one of his team check out the report before shelling out on the big 'Hammer Time' promotion. Maybe Kevin went into that bout with eye problems.)

I think Mitchell has blown it big time. He was over confident going into the Katsidis fight and all his talk before hand seemed to be about how his power was awesome and that he would blow Katsidis away. I bet on Katsidis due to Kevs attitude and although I hoped Mitchell would surprise me he didn't. He did surprise Warren though with all his excuses and lack of proper preparation. Not a good idea to piss off your boss!

With regard to people saying he needs some tune ups- IMO almost his whole career has been tune up fights and Murray is not much different in terms of who he has fought. Skill wise i dont think there is much in it however desire wise John Murray is on a different level.

I really think Kevin should bite the bullet, train like a demon and get this fight on. He is the best fighter Murray will have fought to date.

I think the Katsidis fight has knocked his confidence and he has lost a bit of heart for the game when all said and done.

Enjoyed the interview with him on Boxrec. Very interesting.

As much as i like Mitchell, Murray would break him down over 12 rounds.

Yep. Would love to see this fight. I'd go for Mitchell, if he's on song.

i disagree, i honestly believe IF he fights murray AND beats him, which wont be easy but i think he will, then i believe he can beat katsidis then win a world title :TU: i honestly believe on his day, his that good

On Boxrec both these fighters are not ranked in the top ten in the world, murray (15) , Kev (21). If your that far down the rankings in the world how can u ask for big money?

It was a shot at Katsidis' interim WBO title - Marquez was full WBO champ

In fact just read the purse bid was $515,000 for Mitchell-Katsidis, 80/20 in Katsidis' favour, £65k for Mitchell.
£65,000! Is that all? I'd have thought Mitchell would have got at least £100,000!

Damn, once he paid Tax, Trainer, etc, what was he left with?
