I think that is the issue for many muslims, and many who have sympathised with the extremists, the fact is it is women and kids dying, over a milllion people have died in the region, random bombings do not discriminate against who they kill. It is also the fault of our media who tend to gloss over these facts

Very, very tenuous figures...what is your source? The Taliban news?....plus majority of civilian deaths are caused by suicide bombings.

Most soldiers won't target innocent civilians, but as with any conflict, there's bound to be ALOT of innocent casualties caused both the coalition forces and whoever they're fighting.
This and the fact that these wars are in countries with a large muslim population is why it really gets and feels 'personal' with alot of muslims who feel they're being targetted.

The majority will quietly complain about the politics and just get on with living peacefully in any modern/western country.

Then there's people who take it into their own hands and start blowing themselves up in the name of god who'll just feul the EDL + and the rest of them fascist thugs who in turn get a response from 'muslim' fascists and so on.

Why don't people understand, regardless of religion, nationality, skin colour or background, deep down, we're all the same?

Opinion in Northern Ireland was radicalised when it was felt the balance needed to be redressed when the British Army was intensified. Since a genuine offer of peace and comprimise was made with the Good Friday Agreement and Power Sharing the war was effectively ended. You will always have extremists on either side but their opinion has been alienated as the ordinary person wants peace and stability.
In essence we just need to start being nicer to the muslim world and they will just worry about normal life and not about revenge attacks.
They will probably want to keep their oil too!

Actually, the majority - seeing a though most British muslims aren't from an Arab heritage do have a good link with their country of origin (India/Pakistan). This generation will anyway, the future generations won't, most of the kids at the moment hardly know their own native language.

The Koran, just like Nostradamus, can be interpreted in many different ways, and people from all religions use bespoke interpretations of 'their book' in order to explain their actions. I heard a Church of England representative quote the bible in order to justify the organisations' investment in nuclear weapons once.

I feel sorry for Small. He was, in the main, an exciting fighter with a lot of talent, but he was never the sharpest knife in the drawer, and some perverted arsehole has got inside his head.

It IS a peace loving religion, have you not noticed that there are people who speak out against it but its not good enough to headline? People would much rather read about Katie Price's new implants or the Haye, Klitchko farce than a little old mosque man making a speech against murdering people in the name of god.

Neither will people notice that in most mosques who are 'up with the time' kids are now taught about drugs, terrorism and blending religion with modern society and overall just being a good person. Its by far interesting watching the bad bits.

This is possibly the silliest thing I have ever seen written about ISlam...

It is possibly a bit of a peace loving religion; but only for other Muslims and those who follow it without deviance (and even then it's not too peaceful as there are different conflicting sects and plenty of violent punishment for Muslims who have 'transgressed'.)

And if you're a non-muslim and especially Jewish (apparently turned into apes and pigs by 'allah'); then Islam is anything but peace loving. I suggest you read the Quran (supposely God's actual words) and see how peace-loving it is... no amount of rose-tinted spectacle wearing or liberal wishful thinking can hide the violence in the Qur'an and thus in Islam.

Please do not answer unless you have read the Koran in its entirety (I have - when I was going through a very tough set of personal circumstances I toyed with Islam, read the Qur'an in its entirety, and was confused that the so-called word of god was so violent, so aggressive so 'unloving'.

Also please do not post saying I need to read it in Arabic to understand it and other red herrings, there are many English translations accepted by so-called Islamic scholars.... and please don't try the old 'the people that preach or commit violence are not real muslims.... they think they are and tehy have text to justify it. Other red herrings to avoid are criticizing Christianity and citing violent verses in the Bible. I am not defending or offering any organised religion. It's all fairy-tale nonsense, one thing I learned during my 'enlightenment' as I recovered from that deep depression and soul-searching. So do your research if you seek the criticize.

...don't assume that you can understand the religion by simply reading and the holy scripture as 'just a book to be taken in its literal sense' there's much more to it. Are you in some way implying that you're more accomplished in the religion than men and women who've dedicated years of their life to studying everything there is to know about it?

Besides, even if it was, logically looking at it, most muslims wouldn't go out and mistreat someone just because they're different just as any athiest, christian, jew and so on wouldn't.

...and human nature is alot more powerful than religion.

I don't mind what golden magical hegehog people want to misguidedly worship as log as people strive for peace and some kind of love and kindness... and there are plenty of MUslims who do. I had a great time in Jordan, Palestine and Syria - and there were very warm, friendly people there. I am not criticising peopel, just a text.

The women and men you describe study it BECAUSE they are muslims and believe it....so their word is hardly to be taken seriously, as proof of Islam's magnitude as they are delusional fools intoxicated with superstition and fear (in my less than all-knowing opinion, naturally.)

If any Muslims or indeed any other religion, wants to believe in their religion without commiting violence or tryinmg to convert others; I have no problem.
