Last I heard Tarver was a fat 42 year old heavyweight Green has no interest in, as of this week.

I think Green is most comfortable at "Dannyweight", I believe his natural walking weight is generally about 190lb and he said before his mini-retirement that he still had to drain a lot to make 175lb. He could certainly still make that weight now, but I just don't think he wants to.

What really disappoints me is that had Green stayed at 175lb, not retired, defended his WBA belt and looked to unify - he could be a true great by now, as I believe he would have given Johnson, Tarver, Erdei and Woods a good fight and possibly beaten all of them.

Green is looking for opponents. They are not looking for him.

As for this "Dannyweight" crap, look at the Jones fight. Who benefited more from the catchweight limit? The light heavyweight or the cruiserweight? In his next fight Jones went the distance with no 1 light heavyweight Hopkins.

i agree. Green v johnson would have been great. I know it will never happen now, but green v froch at 175 would be a cracker imo

provided it was at lightheavyweight green would have had a shot. If it were at supermiddleweight Joe would have slapped him silly, it would have been like the mundine fight but worse

yeah definitely greens i dont know how green stayed at super middle so long but he wouldnt have had the work rate to beat calzage at super middle. wouldnt have minded green v kessler also that would have been worth watching.

i would like to watch it none the less just because i think green would wipe the floor with tarver,
although you would expect it to be competitive for at least a few rounds.

kessler also looks like a very large smw, he looked massive compared to mundine when they fought. i think greens style would be better suited to fighting kessler than mundines was.

I think mundine just didnt have the power to rock kessler where green probably woulfd be be able to do enough damage to get thee adavantage.

I'm liking all these hypothetical matchups. For what it's worth, here's my view:

175lb Green UD12 Johnson - close but clear
175lb Green TKO8 Woods - competitive up until knockout
175lb Green UD12 Tarver - clear decision, Tarver down once
168lb Kessler UD12 Green - about 8-4 on the scorecards, Kessler wobbled at more than one stage
175lb Green KO6 Kessler - at this weight, I don't think Kessler can take Green's punch, but Green can take his
168lb Calzaghe UD12 Green - lopsided decision
175lb Calzaghe UD12 Green - Calzaghe down early, then wins two-thirds of the remaining rounds to take a clear decision

Id like to think green would have a chance at knocking calzage out.

would have liked to see hopkins green to.could have gone eighter way. again I would to think green could outwork hopkins but it would be hard to think that hopkins could ger knocked out his defense is just too good

this is what has annoyed me most with green, i dont hate the guy im just annoyed that he retired when he could have made some real great fights, and when he came back he fought all has beens (with the exeption of bj) maybe some of the better cw's are tied up or not an option or whatever, but im sure if danny and his team really wanted to they could have gave us something better that briggs, siaca and co. but im still holding out hope that with the small time he has left he gets some good fights

maybe, we will never know. Green definatly had trouble against faster guys. I would have liked to see them fight at 175 around 2007/8 though

Green was probably offered a fight with Calazagi I heard off reliable sources that Mundine was offered to fight him ,and also Briggs was offered to fight Calazagi.

I heard Briggs was offered to fight him can't remember where I heard it but it was in boxing circles. If Green was offered a fight with him I dont think they would have advertised it

Calazagi would slap Green at any weight, Green couldn't beat mundine so what chance would he have against Calazagi ? also mundine would of beat Green at light heavyweight aswell

going to have to disagree with you there. green got schooled by mundine at super middle but its common knowledge that weight drainage was a massive factor in that fight. at light heavy that wouldn't be the case therefore the same result wouldn't be guaranteed. also most would agree green has grown considerably as a fighter since 2006 whereas mundine seems to have gone backwards. and at light heavy i doubt calzage would be bouncing back up like he did against jones and hopkins if he got hit by green. admittedly green might not have the same chance at landing so often but i doubt that he would need to, also at light heavy i doubt that he would gas out like roy seemed to.

Calzaghe would've beat Green at any weight.
