first time i hear someone assuming that being dropped
by a "body shot" means you are a "cabaret girl". and as
well first time i hear someone say bernard's "was not even
a real body shot". hard to take you serious when you write
things like that.
That shot to the body was not a real body shot. Who was he fooling? And if it was, how can this guy be considered great? Do not fool yourself, man.

What do you mean it wasn't a real body shot? Hopkins clearly connects.

It just seems odd when you say the a fighter "does not even qualify for your top 100 all time fighters." Makes it sound like if they don't, they suck
Everybody got their own personal list...Mine is not different than anybody elses. Everyone have their own opinions. I can see at least 100 great fighters that were better than Oscar De La Hoya
Can you post your list?
It's very subjective. You just bring it up all the time and have piqued my interest.

Yeah, Mosley was a totally natural 135lber who never drained, & who looked pudgy at 147
BTW, Elmer, can you clarify which is worse? Running like a chicken, or quitting like a dog, ala you-pretend-not-to-notice-who...?
We never know what happened to the great Roberto Duran in New Orleans. Maybe he had stomach cramps. Maybe he was frustrated. Maybe he was not in shape. We could make all kinds of excuses. One thing I know, in the biggest fight of his life, Duran beat the crap of the great Sugar Ray Leonard. It was not even close, GNI. But DLH, in the biggest fight of his career, HE RAN LIKE A CHICKEN...THAT IS A FACT. He had the fight won against Tito, and he ruined it like that. That is a shame.
Psychiatrists would love this. A textbook instance of denial manifesting itself through strained reason.

Elmer you are supposed to say it like you mean it "YOU CANNOT HANDLE THE TRUTH"
Duran quit like Dog, can you handle that one?
Or that Duran was KO and dropped like a cabaret girl vs Hearns, how about that one?
Or that Benitez school Duran, this one?
Can you HANDLE THE TRUTH? Can you?

I accepted that Duran lost those fights. But you cannot accept De La Hoya's losses.
He ran like a chicken against Tito
He lost to a overblown lightweight, in his prime against Mosely
John John clearly whupped him
He rolled over like a cabaret girl with a body shot that was not even a body shot?
He quit against a guy who was smaller than he: Manny Pacquiao.
How about that, GNI?
Why you gotta bring Duran into this. Even after that Loss to Leonard and retired the day after, even with DLH and all his accomplishments of winning 4 titles, still cannot match Duran's...How about that for the truth?

he did not run "like a chicken" but like someone
who did a terrible miscalculation. he was neither
hurt, nor intimidated and you are the only person
i ever saw claiming that the body shot he suffered
against bhop was anything but ... a solid body shot.
truth is definitely
not on your side in these two, hombre.

As mentioned, Duran had negative moments, but obviously his overall career was superior to De la Hoya's. I don't think anyone is arguing otherwise.
There certainly are some specific moments out of De la hoya's career that he should be criticized him for and that is fair enough. However, if you are going to do that you aren't being objective by not being willing to accept legitimate negatives regarding Duran's career.
De La hoya fought better competition than anyone in his era. Sometimes he came up short in big fights; sometimes he didn't.

More despicable is DLH looking like a cabaret girl inside and outside the ring. What a shame, LOL

Not sure why there is an argument going on here? It really is as simple as AA's quote.

I have seen better body blows than that. That blow was not even a body shot. It was just a tap to the belly and he went down like a sissy cabaret woman.

If you must carry on this inane argument, and I have plenty of them myself, can you just stick with it and get it over with? Why bring it back up every 6 days? The thread is long ruined. Finish what it is you need to do and let it die.
This last page does not even rank in my personal top 100 BOTP pages.

What insane argument? I have seen better body shots than that crap. I will tell you what is a real body shot:
The belly shot that the great Jim Jeffries got against the great Bob Fitzsimmons...That is a body shot
The body shots that the great Joe Frazier gave the great Muhammad Ali those were body shots.
Now, the body tap to DLH by Hopkins?
