How is Tony Conquests' promoter trying to get him on telly?
Well surely any promoter will try or at least welcome getting their fighter TV exposure. By promoting the fighter they one of the goals is to get their fighter on tv is it not?
Yes, I expect any promoter would welcome TV exposure for their promotions (and the resulting remuneration). I just assumed that someone had some inside information on Conquests' career, when they said, "Conquest's promoter is trying to get him on telly".
I know your a copper met boy but blimey, take a break from your day job once in a while. Who do you think you are? Inspector Clueso " I just assumed that
somebody had inside information"
DD, bet you've used that quote many a time....

First of all, in general terms, unless a promoter owns a form of media, it is nigh impossible for him / her to gaurantee a boxers exposure by that particular medium. A good example would be that Ricky Hatton, as the owner of both Hatton tv and
Hatton promotions, can gaurantee a boxers exposure on that tv channel.
Promoters who do not own a tv company, by definition, can't make such promises. If a TV company has agreed to film a promoters show, then that promoter can (and they often do) gaurantee a boxer a place on that bill. That does not mean their contest will be broadcast or even filmed. The tv company are generally the paymasters and make the decisions regarding who they film and broadcast. (I know this, as inthe past some of my boxers have been disappointed to learn that the cameras were being packed away whilst they boxed)
On a specific note, in relation to Tony Conquest, nobody is 'his promoter'. He has boxed for two different promoters and is not contractually obliged to any particular promoter.
Your stating the blindingly obvious here, and its got bugger all to do with my post. No-one said anything about 'promises' - I hate it when people use that word wrongly. What his promoter (who I understand has promoted his last three fights at least) said is that he was 'trying' to get Conquest on telly. At the time I asked him, he was Conquest's promoter as he was promoting the bill that Conquest was boxing on. Has he appeared on anyone else's lately? Yours? Or are you trying to sign him?
Hi Dan, I'm not trying to sign Tony, as I'm his manager. Tony has boxed on Sunday shows for Miranda Carter and of late has been boxing on a fight by fight basis with Steve Goodwin. Steve has worked closely with us to try and bring the right opponents in for Tony to develop him at the right pace. I watched the Askin V Dawson contest and was pleased to see interest being generated in the Cruiserweight division at Area title and domestic level in general, which can only be a good thing.
I'd love Tony to be featured regularly on TV, as I believe that he has the talent and personality that would lend itself to television, not to mention his immense dedication. I think that before long, he will force himself into a position where he will be part of TV shows. Hopefully, he'll then get the exposure he deserves. But I know from previous experience there are no gaurantees when you are boxing in non title contests.
On a seperate note, well done to Matt Askin on his well deserved win and also to Dawson for making it a good absorbing fight, I hope he stays active.

Matty Askin v Conquest would be a good fight - for 'the record' I reckon Conquest would do him. But maybe a fight or two first.

matty looks good at mo but what will he look like vs someone who can bang as well and can take a punch.
ranked 6 here yet only taken on 3 uk rated boxers on here placed 21 ,19, 22 the rest have been unrated uk boxers ok some are rated in the own country but most are not at all .
he is just missing no:20 Paul morris that would be a very good fight for me and a classic blackpool vs preston would be a sell out.
