Just a couple days short of his next birthday. I know this because we share the date - 3rd May which is also the birthdate of Sugar Ray Robinson.

Being a hardcore boxing fan I love that I share a birthday with our nations most popular boxer as well as the universally recognised greatest fighter to grace our planet.

RIP Sir Henry.

RIP

He may not have been world champion(then again look at some of the names that were top dogs in that period) but the man is a legend and a British institution.

He will always be remembered for "that punch" and rightly so !!

RIP to one of British Boxings greatest punchers and finishers.

The most popular fighter since the second world war.

His KO of Joe Erskine is pure brutality.

He was apparently a very gregarious fellow to meet as well; he liked to be around people from all accounts and didn't need to be 'The Big Man' with them. RIP

A gentleman, but with a ruthless streak that made him one of the best "finishers" .
