For purely selfish reasons I hope an opponent isn't found and Sky do the right thing (again) and withdraw it from being a PPV.

I have the feeling no matter who the opponent is, if its a WBO title fight the PPV will remain.

Rediculous if this remains a PPV.... absolutely rediclous. Sky declared Khan vs McCloskey was a PPV - advertised it as such.... then made these excuses about the undercard - even though it wasn't even announced. Did you hear Adam/Johnny on Ringside ever say - Khan vs McCloskey on PPV plus an amazing undercard that we cannot announce yet.

Whislt Groves vs Degale was the main advertsing feature...... Brahmer vs Clev is also been regularly advertised - its been promoted as a joint main event, a picture of Brahmer is on the Sky advert - his name is there.... He pulls out, yet Sky keeps it a PPV..... come on, rediculous - double standards of the highest order.

We thought the Khan vs Maidana PPV could have been scrapped cause of the domestic pull outs (and Klitchsko) - HALF of the ADVERTISED PPV has been changed yet its likely to remain on SBO. NONE of the Advertised bill (as far as the PPV is concerned) for the Khan vs McCloskey bill was altered and that was scrapped by Sky.

It is setting a dangerous precedent by having Degale v Groves as a PPV event without any decent supporting fights. Yes, this is a fight I have been looking forward to for a while and yes, it is refreshing for two unbeaten, upcoming British fighters to be facing each other but PPV should be reserved either for high-profile world title fights or for cards with a large number of quality fights on them.

I wonder if Sky would be able to package this up with showing Hopkins v Pascal and Dawson v Diaconu LIVE rather than on a delay?

Sky Sports have not yet confirmed whether it will remain a Box Office event with the grudge match between James DeGale and George Groves being the co-main event.

Half the main event, half the PPV price? Sound too logical?

Not happy....wrote a 1,000 word preview of this card last night and will have to scrap half of it now....

This should not be PPV anymore, but it still will be....

I wonder is this guy being explored as a late replacement: Aleksy Kuziemski

He is also a Universum boxer, is rated by the WBO and fought just over a month ago in a 6 rounder so he will be fresh enough.

Is there a chance that Warren could effectively blackmail Sky and say that unless its Box Office, Degale-Groves is off too?

Given the size of the purse bids, surely Box Office was the only way to make the fight financially viable. A "normal" SFN may not cover the purse and the fees for the undercard, even allowing for the fact that the undercard is made up of Warren fighters in un-loseable fights against nameless, and therefore cheap, opposition.

If they can find a late notice opponent for the NEW champ, it will definitely stay as PPV.

Billy Boyle will have another go.

Lets hope its acceptable, remember Kali Mehan wasn't accepted by Sky for Fury.

On this short notice, I really can't see who they could get in. Nobody with any real career ambitions would take this on 3 days notice against a guy like Cleverly who has been training hard for a couple of months.

Is there a realistic chance it could be Maccarinelli?

It always was dangerous IMO, even with it being Brahmer vs Clev - it wasn't a PPV worthy bill.

We used to get world title fights, followed by British title fights on Friday Night fights, let alone Saturday night fights - should the Burns vs Martinez bill been on PPV?

I wonder if that's ever been done before, multiple title holder and all vacant at the time,be interesting to know

Fully in agreement with you on the PPV being a joke in the first place but if it remains PPV now then it is simply ridiculous. I'd buy it if they offered it along with the Hopkins and Dawson fights live but otherwise I'm ashamed to say it will either be an internet stream or the pub for me.

Ironically check a look at Brahmer's record! Vacant European Title, Vacant Intercontinental title (x3), Vacant Interim WBO world title, awarded the belt away out of the ring! Only time he fought a defending champion - he lost.

This definitely puts Sky in a tricky position. As someone mentioned, they could be accused of double-standards here after the Khan fiasco — and the Khan faction are bound to be livid if Saturday goes ahead as a PPV, so Sky might want to bring their future relationship with Khan into the equation. That said, even as it stands this is a far stronger show than Khan-McCloskey. PPV level? Not in my opinion, despite DeGale-Groves being a very strong main event. But the big difference between this show and Khan-McCloskey is that we're in fight week now, many viewers will already have ordered the PPV — it hurts more to give money back than it does not to take it in the first place, and Sky are all about the money.

Someone told me that FW just matched Clev for the vacant WBO crusier title 15 mins ago, then the other guy pulled out and now Clev's the just been announced as THE NEW WBO cruiserweight champ too.

Surely a record. WBO heavyweight champ by tea time ?

I feel sorry for Ed Robinson in all this, he's the one who will have put together Sky's Behind The Ropes show and once again that will have to be re-done at the last minute — welcome to the world of journalism fella!

Far stronger? Really?

At the moment, the Sky show is:

BJ Saunders v Hammond
Frankie Gavin v Young Mutley
James Degale v George Groves
Nathan Cleverly v TBA

The Khan card had:
Khan v McCloskey
Purdy v Watson
Murray v Carvalho
Munroe v Isaeu

The Warren card has name value but arguably no competitive merit (the poll in your own magazine showed little support for Groves), while Khan card had at least one 50:50 fight. Including the likes of Sam Sexton, Nicky Cook, Paul Smith will add to the name value but will further detract from the competitiveness. Once again Warren is suffering from his reluctance to put his fighters in risky fights, as the only fight on this card approaching even money was Cleverly v Braehmer and it is now scrapped.

The one person who benefits most from all this will be Eddie Hearn, who has been banging the drum about competitive fights recently and this goes to prove him right.

Zsolt Erdei’s due to be fighting Byron Mitchell on 4th June so he should be in training, if FW can pull a wedge out, he’d be a fair replacement for him to have a crack at getting his title back.

Interesting by Tris over at BN - Frank sent a car to pick up Braehmer at airport tue, and he's a no show. Then was told to send car to pick him up today instead - again no show, and out comes the cut excuse. So obviously a load of crap from the German camp. Feel sorry for Clev here, hope Frank gets him a decent enough replacement to motivate him
( and justify PPV - that's a hard one now )

TB too far off weight to make it in time, on Frank's very good advice.
