I don't think it was a ploy or some kind of device to con a few more PPV/ticket sales, it was just an attempt to salvage the show. Tony stepped up, Cleverly reciprocated and it didn't work out.

I'm sure if Tony had made the weight, turned up looking like Skeletor in the ring and suffered a brutal loss we'd all be up in arms about how reckless and idiotic it was to allow it to go ahead.

The fire's been well and truly stoked, so hopefully we'll get a primed and healthy Bellew coming off a barnstorming win over Mckenzie ready to step up against Cleverly in a title shot that's had months of needle to bring it to boil.

It's a painful pill to swallow in the short-term but I'm sure hindsight will put it all into perspective.
Partially agree, I don't think Tony should get the criticism - however it should have never been announced as on. Its not even close to the weight. So my criticism is aimed at the promoter.

Why throw your name into the hat being 20lb over the limit?

Thanked twice in eleven words - very polite.
I just mean't you've been championing Cleverly's corner for a couple of days now and rubbishing Bellew's.

Always good to be polite my friend, I am not a thug :TU: I see you do not have a pop at Bellew fans though? And lets be fair there are an awful lot more on here Pro Bellew than Cleverly, Imagine how boring some of the posts would be if they were all so one sided  Tony has always been a fan of peoples right to their views and that is a great value to have.

Kind regards :D

Nathan (I think i can call him that) didn't look too bothered by it all, you got the sense he was a bit bored with it all really and maybe he's a bit irked that he got his shot like that without really doing much. It's probably stirred the pot for a potential fight in 12 months time which Cleverly may be at a loose end for when he's looking for a voluntary defence or whatever.

I'll say it again - very polite in the valleys.
Yeah bomber is well liked on here and the red scousers love him, even though he was wearing an Everton shirt at the press conference. loveit.

I'm wondering if Bellew vs McKenzie might not go on - it is a potential Banana skin (although I don't think so personally).

I loved how Cleverly stated at the start that he didn't see himself as a champion, but when the arguements started he stated "I'm the champion, it means I'm the best".

He is the interim champion though Stu, he said he would not call himself World champion until after the fight.
