Power's not up to much at world level? Well to be fair Kessler, Abraham and Johnson aren't guys that get knocked out so that's a bit unfair and Froch has never been a real banger but more of a spiteful puncher.
Johnson came in on good form after beating Green and was up for it but Froch took care of business and was worthy of the win.
If he could beat Ward, then get revenge over Kessler that'd cap off a fantastic career.

Kessler has always suffered with back problems, even before JC. Anyone who has ever had similar trouble will tell you how much it affects movement.

Yeah, while Froch isn't exactly Julian Jackson, he hits hard enough to discourage just about anyone - he had Abraham going backwards at times and nearly put him down with a body shot in the 10th. The guys he's failed to stop haven't been stopped by anyone else either (except Kessler, but those cuts were as much from Ward's filthy use of his head)

I think Joe C would win, but he wouldn't destroy Ward. I know Ward can be hard to watch, but he's got legit skills and talent; he hasn't lost since he was 12 years old.
Did he really have an unbeaten Amateur career?
He lost 5 times as an amateur, but his last loss came in 1998 (he was actually 13 at the time) to a guy named Jesus Gonzales.

Froch has decent power at world level, but over his last several fights I have seen many predicitions that he was going to stop his opponents, which suggests to me that people think he has an ability to hurt and finish opponents that he doesn't actually have. There is a big difference between having enough power to keep a guy honest, and having enough power to KO one of the most durable men in boxing.

Boxing experts on here? Pah...
I totally agree - Calzaghe was such a consumate professional he took 12 years of learning his craft inside-out before bringing over a fellow belt holder.
In another a masterstroke, rather than fight Roy Jones & Bernard Hopkins in their mid 30's at their peak, he actually waited until they had become "grand masters" of pugilism, well into their 40's before taking them on.
Despite having his nose broken by both men, he came out victorious. He was so gifted that instead of using his epic KO power, he granted us all a masterclass of 24 rounds to cement this historic double.
How many world titles did you win because you must be really good..
We don't even have to mention future hall-of-famers and behemoths like Evans "lights out" Ashira and "Iron" Peter Manfredo.
Infact the show would have been called the Super One plus five. Not the Super Six. And we'd have happily paid £49.95 per episode.

I think Froch needs to go into the Ward fight with the same strategy that Johnson went into this fight with, except be busier. I just worry that Wards speed and movement will prevent Froch staying on the inside. The first 4 or 5 rounds I think will be critical and theres no way carl can start as slow as he did on saturday when hes in with Ward

a good win over a good fighter. shame it's turned into a joe calzaghe wank-off thread, when joe pulled out of a johnson fight 2x.
froch was never going to win every round. we should not be surprised with a 116-112 type of competitive/tough/clear win. froch started slow because johnson is big at 168 and strong, pressurising early. froch got into it, took the steam out of him and cmae on strong.
when you're fighting quality fighters every fight, from pascal through to johnson (6 in a row) there are going to be the ups and downs. narrow win, narrow defeat, come from behind KO, & a pair of bruising wins (johnson, pascal). this is where the calzaghe "0" is deceptive, because it's easier to impress when you're having the fights when you feel ready for them or when your promoter makes the fight right time/right place.
joe is the most decorated super middle champ ever, and he'll get in the hall of fame for it; good for him. but i agree with the poster who said that joe would probably have pulled out of the tournament (as others have done). he could have been a massive liability to showtime, a serious headache to their big plans - showtime, whose head said that joe wasn't ready for the big fights after controversial win over reid and hug/slapfest with starie.
when froch gets behind that jab, and punches straight, and keeps his mind on the job, he reminds me a bit of randy turpin.
