i don't think so.....the harrison strategy was to increase audleys fear and anticipation to the point he froze....by NOT hitting him...

There is no way Haye can win this from the outside, against Valuev the speed difference was enough to move in and out, against Wlad he needs to be inside and knock him out

This publicity is useful in 3 ways; selling the app, selling the fight, raising Haye's profile; and I don't think Haye is planning on getting much richer off the back of this app, so I'd say it's really just a marketing tool (and his cousin made it, so why not do it?)

my guess is that the strategy will be to run on the outside for long peroids, like he did against valuev. he will be out of reach so wlad can't score. all he will be looking for is to dart in and land a KO punch at some stage of the fight - that could be in the 12th round or it could be in the first. there is no way he can outbox wlad, true, but i doubt he will steam into him at the start either. i dont think they will be going for a points win...but that doesn't mean it will be exciting either. i think it will be dull, dull, dull unless the ref gets hold of it and tells haye to do something.

I already get paid for doing just that by clients - if Haye wants to become one that's fine with me but just like him I don't go to work for free

don't misunderstand me mate...i think Ali was funny (i named my kid after him so it's not like i'm hating on him)....but a case could be made that comments he came out with were far worse than anything Haye has done IF you're the sort of person who takes offence at such things.

Ali was not always the fighter universally loved, respected and admired....his ban, the rumble in the jungle and the debacle in vietnam (which 'proved' ali was 'right') all changed America's opinion of him from uppity n-word to cheeky chappy.

Ali was a bit of a git. The way he treated Joe Frazier and Foreman was pretty disgraceful. Ali was a middle class mixed race kid who had it comparatively speaking - pretty easy, compared to Frazier who was a sharecroppers son, who lived in the backwoods in a family of 13 children.

The fight was absolute shite. Haye took 3 rounds to beat an opponent who threw a single punch!

He didn't throw anything for 2 rounds against an opponent who wouldn't have thrown anything had they stood there for two years, it was a disgrace. The fact it was ppv with a shallow undercard compounded it. I think you're letting your liking of a particular fighter cloud your judgement again.

I'm not misinterpreting at all - you made specific reference to it selling the fight, I'm saying that job has already largely been done and there would be more effective ways to 'top up' the PPV than repeating the 'decapitation' controversy. You're also forgetting he was predominantly doing this to promote his ipad app rather than the fight.

Have you tried the app? It promotes this fight in the same way the Tyson one promotes Hangover 2.

No offence fella, but how is that relevant to the point we're debating? I'm very specifically saying that Haye could have adopted an alternative tactic/PR stunt that would have created a greater level of media awareness/interest than this particular tactic and in turn improved PPV numbers.
