I thought about it, but the reality is that Foreman clearly still had a punch and Moorer was known to be fragile and hadn't convinced at heavy. Nonetheless, he was still winning at a canter and was well on his way to a UD until he got caught by one booming shot from Big George.
One shot doth not a performance make
Fight sprang to my head as well and I had the same thoughts.

Think that is a little harsh on Double M. Sure he was looking vulnerable in a few fights at heavy before Foreman, but generally against good punchers and he was never sparked. He had just dominated (IMO) the Unified Heavyweight champion and was an undefeated fighter. Might not have solely convinced that this is a man who is going to be champion for 5/6 beating everyone - but was a solid world champion.

Looking at Double M's record.... I am stunned by the actual score cards of the Holyfield rematch. For me, thats the fight that "confirmed" the chin problem of Moorer, but I thought he dominated the early proceedings and but some of the judges only gave him two rounds. I know there were a couple of 10-7 rounds there, when it seemed like even a jab was flooring Moorer, but untill Moorer gased he was well in control.

i see your point but Chris at one time was something like 45 fights unbeaten and making huge money on that sky contract. seeing him up against a huge cruiser like thompson who could bang and being beaten so brutally despite his flooring thompson and pushing it right down to the wire was very sad....and chris did lose both so seeing such a winner....lose....isnt such a big deal which is why no one mentioned it
