The only thing Haye did to warrant criticism is to wheel out the broken toe excuse. He was ill advised to do this, but jaysus people have got their pantyhoes in a right twist over this. You have to laugh at the outrage from some of the tourist boxing commentators in the tabloids, those twats wouldnt know what a small hall show was if you asked them.

Fair play to Haye, he made himself a nice packet and hyped himself well to create interest in the boring heavyweight division. He was never going to go toe to toe with Vlad, FFS look at the size differences, I think some people just got sucked into expecting Haye to beat Vlad to trade toe-to-toe with him. I enjoyed the fight with Vlad and at least it happened.

I think you're on the money (no pun intended :P ).

I now believe that Haye's motivation is purely financial.

The Harrison farce kind of alerted my suspicions, but the Klitschko performance confirmed it for me.
