Thanks Barry, Leonard/Hearns still bothers me. Both fights.

Love the Leonard-Hearns write and the Mancini-Kim.

You write with the excitement of a die-hard fan.

I'd love to watch the boxing with you, Saad.

Right back at you Ezz. That's all I am, a fan with a great memory. I'd never classify myself as a writer.

You get your favouritism across in a way that's refreshing. You check it in at the gate and don't try to pretend or hide behind any transparent "I really like Ray Leonard but..." type nonsense.

I also like the way you don't always have to be on the winning side.

The piece about Mancini-Kim captures how I feel about those moments in the sport.

Thanks man, I don't have to like Leonard to give him credit. And if loving Hearns is wrong I don't want to be right.

And thanks a lot Barry, it's good to know that someone is reading.

If you're not familiar with Johnson, he had nuclear bomb power, piss poor stamina, heart for days and an average chin.

Totally agree on Duran-Leonard

If i had seen all of Ray's fights bar this one I would never believe he could miss so many punches.

Good reads.
Your description of Gomez v Pintor was dead on. Underrated war and neither was the same afterward, although both went on to win other alphabet belts.
MSM v Marvin Johnson one of my ATF's too. Amazing that it lasted as long as it did

RE Castillo Corrales And fascinating that most thought Chico needed to use his jab and Castillo had to forge his way inside. In reality, Jose owned him at mid range and Corrales landed that short hook in tight at will.

nice :TU:

10th round of Castillo-Corrales has to be one of the best rounds ever. Nice list

If I did, it would be on guys like Eddie Booker & Wesley Mouzon. Overlooked great fighters whose careers were cut short. Perhaps one of these days.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Cheesy, but true. Great concept BTW.

To this day, I've never felt more tension in the air before an opening bell. Not even in Tyson fights. There was an insane buzz through the crowd that was like a swarm of bees and you can still feel it through the screen. Leonard probably was slightly more accomplished than these two, but Tommy & Marvin were the warriors. When they told you war was coming, everyone knew they meant it
This fight gets hyped up so often, and I have watched it so many times that for the last 5-6 years I have put it on the shelf, so to speak.
I watched this yesterday, and today I read your description of the fight and JESUS CHRIST!!!!
Firstly, I am amazed at how this fight still has the ability to keep you glued to the screen like a live event.
Secondly, I am looking forward to these installments more and more every time.
You are becoming a real pain in the ass, you have spoiled so many results of the fights on my viewing list. At first I tried to get by skipping the fights I have yet to see, but I have to hand it to you, I just can't resist, even though I know it's going to hurt me!
Keep them coming.

Patiently waiting.
