Should anyone be getting a world title shot after 14 fights

What if a boxer has 14 wins 14 KOs beating top kids on the way ?????

I doubt that most fighters with 14 fights 14 win record would have gotten a domestic title, continental / European title, fought 4 or 5 guys in the top 15 and then had an eliminaor for a world title shot. There will always be people that have been mentioned in this thread, Spinks, De La Hoya etc etc, but i think these days promoters and managers are looking to keep hold of world title belts for longer by fighting obviously inferior fighters, such as the Klitschko - Chisora match up. The system allows them to do this at the moment and i suppose what im saying is that fighters should have to have a number of fights before they can go for certain titles and certainlyshouldn't be able to jump up from beeing an average domestic to gaining a world title shot. Chisora was nowhere near ready to face Klitschko even before the Fury fight and it was just a way for the Klitschko's to keep the machine turning, make a lot of money, in the knowledge that the belt was in safe hands.

If boxers work there way into contention then why not give them the shot? For example Guillermo Ridgendoux beat a top contender in Cordoba so deserved a title shot off the back of that IMO. in your example of Chisora, no way did he deserve a title shot he had beaten Sam Sexton and the shell of Danny Williams! He would of needed to beat a Dimitrenko, Arreola, Gomez, Solis or someone on that level to warrant a shot, but on his resume a title was a joke

I suppose i'm of the old fashioned mind set, that a title shot should be earnt. In a football analogy, i believe that its right you prove yourself in each division and only when you reach the premiership are you allowed to possibly challenge for a champions league spot. In boxing, it's as if a league one side beats a mid table championship side in the cup and are given a chance of a slot in the champions league on the back of it. I hear all the arguments, but i think there should be proper development and stages ti go through before you get a title shot.

I totally agree fighters should be moved along slower and clear out domestically, then euro, then fringe World class then finally fight for a world title but if a fighter beats the best in division be it with one fight or 40 fights they deserve a crack but agreed fighters should be brought along slower imo
