swifty smith is not the same boxer as a pro as he was as an amateur.
he used to be an elusive defensive type of boxer and now he is like a 9 stone paul smith in that he is a brawler and a scrapper and he has way too much ability to be boxing like that.

Listen , when the favourite in boxing loses , the focus is in the name doing wrong. Let's out the focus on selby driving the masses wrong & scoring a great win. This boy really can fight , but not had the big build up. He's a really nice boy & would love you mob to get behind him.

Smith got beaten, he got sparked out. In other words he wasnt good enough. Thats boxing.

Why there is an outpouring of sympathy for Smith shows me people do not know the sport.

As for Paul Smith, good fight against George Groves if it happens but he will lose.

All credit to Selby and the focus rightly should be on him as the rightful victor but you can't help but question the way Smith went about the fight. Anybody who has followed his career knows the way he fought tonight isn't his usual game and he was alot more reckless than usual. He was more like John Murray tonight.

shocking knockout, but smith was getting hit clean with so many shots it seemed just a matter of time to me,selby looked very good to me one to watch, i hope smith can come back from this i remember watching him spar a few years back when he was a amatuer and went away thinking wow hes top notch, but the few times ive seen him box as a pro he seems to have changed his style completey and become more of a pressure fighter when i watched him spar he was a very sharp counter puncher, like i said really hope he can come back because he has loads of tools to work with but all credit to selby he really took his chance last night and i look forward to seeing him fight again

I really am not sure gallagher is a top top trainer. He made John Murray into a good fighter with his marauding come forward bar brawling style. But does he push his other fighters to adopt that style?? Works for some fighters but when you have the class boxing of s smith etc you don't need to just Plowright forward in straight lines!!
Selby was great let's not forget that!! But smith in the amateurs was far more elusive skilful than what he showed last night!

John Simpson called me from his honeymoon in cyprus and has begged us to try and get him selby! Credit to Stephen who's a very dignified man and a credit to our sport.

LOL, looking back at some of the predictions and what actually happened just confirms that most of you are heart over head fans.

Swifty looked dead in that weigh-in picture. Not to mention he was just overrated from day one anyway.

I agree he may move up in weight i thought he looked drawn in the ring but this lad is very very talented and his balls were firmly placed correctly,good luck swifty!

I was going to post something very similar. I think Gallagher needs to take a long hard look at his tactics and come up with a plan B. All his fighters in recent months have fought the same and have all come off second best. Macklin, Murray and now Swifty. Smith looked like a completely different fighter than he did in his last fight.

bellew will predict that anyone from liverpool will win the fight so dont take his predictions too seriously

I only mentioned it as he has said on this forum at differant times Gavin,Price&Smith will be world champions,a loss isnt the end of the world but that was a bad knockout..(none of the above will be world champions)
