Cox v Obidai
Re: Cox v Obidai
If this sort of decision can happen with the fight on a major network, surely we have even more cause for concern should the bills be shown on the fight promoters own channel
as is now looking quite likely with allegedly. It was very very poor and this is from a guy who backed Cox heavily, there is no way he should have got the decision and to be honest
he should have been thrown out a few times from about round 7 onwards.
Its not going to get any better and to get any of the worlds best fighters over here (with a good chance of getting jobbed) is going to cost super-top dollar as the Germans had to do, they managed it by paying top bucks and if we want to see any of them against our boys, we will have to do something similar.
Although the sad thing is I am not sure the powers that be even want to test our guys, they are quite happy doing what they do now and keep it in house
or easy challenges like Cleverly and Burns have kind of had so far.

i think were not giving the ghana guy enough credit, i think he would give any light middle in europe a hard fight including rhodes !curtis wood wrote:cox wants ryan rhodes? he wouldnt stand a chance going on last night, cox would be made for ryan, way too wild, ryan would knock him out pretty early i would think. Cox needs to calm down everyshot was trying to take the other fellas head off didnt set anything up and he should have lost, he was very lucky to get that last night very lucky indeed

Awful reffing.
Awful judging.
The Commonwealth Council should order an immediate rematch. NOT a difficult decision for them to make!
And if the Council don't order a rematch, Cox should have the decency to demand it from FW.

Sai had his title nicked off him John. You, Jamie and your promoters should have the decency to make the rematch immediately and actually earn the belt. Jamie didn't win himself any fans at all the other night and if it was me, I'd want to erase that memory with some honourTalkischeap wrote:I have the upmost respect for Ryan & so does Jamie. Curtis you should know that the sky teams job is to promote fights. Jessie is spot on people don`t realise how good Obodai Sai is. I believe in Jamie & i believe he is one of if not the most exciting kid coming through at the minute & everything this kid needs he will get to attain his ultimate goal.jessi wrote:i think were not giving the ghana guy enough credit, i think he would give any light middle in europe a hard fight including rhodes !curtis wood wrote:cox wants ryan rhodes? he wouldnt stand a chance going on last night, cox would be made for ryan, way too wild, ryan would knock him out pretty early i would think. no problems john, you no more than me when it comes to your fighter but i didnt think he won on friday i had him down by 2 rounds, and i think if a rematch was made and jamie settled down and boxed more before letting the big shots go he would win easy and probably look great doing it, the kid from ghana just looked awkward to me nothing special, but its easy sat on the sofa watching, wish you both all the best jamie is a very good talent but like i said i thought he lost on friday

Sai really impressed me with his defence and the way he frustrated Cox. Cox's defence is shocking and I couldn't see him dealing with any of the top domestic names, Webb would be a good first defence If he doesn't rematch Sai.

Re: Cox v Obidai
like i said i wish you all the very best its a tough old game that we are in
Re: Cox v Obidai
Cox should see all these comments and be a gentlemen and give back the belt if this is possible or give the man a rematch different ref & judges. This fight has truly damaged Cox and made him famous for all the wrong reasons. If I had a fighter i wouldn't want him to fight Cox on any terms.

Especially if you're the away fighter in the UK...curtis wood wrote:its a tough old game that we are in

This is exactly the kind of outcome to a fight, that gives the sport we love a bad name. The referee should have had cox out of there by DQ and the judges - wtf were they on?
Re: Cox v Obidai
Robert Smith of the BBB of C states that our officials don't rob anyone, they just make honest mistakes, so tell me where are the honest mistakes in favour of the away fighters then ?Deserter wrote:x2josco wrote:Best post on this threadMachoMan09 wrote:Corruption or incompetence? Absolutly spot on point Honest mistakes really should be across the board.safeerah wrote:Robert Smith of the BBB of C states that our officials don't rob anyone, they just make honest mistakes, so tell me where are the honest mistakes in favour of the away fighters then ?Deserter wrote:x2josco wrote: Best post on this thread

I suppose the ref awarding The knockdown that shouldn't have been in the McCloskey fight was an honest mistake to the away fighter
Re: Cox v Obidai
I think the problem here was Mark Green the ref, if he had thrown Cox out none of this would have happened. Also the TV people made a big meal of it, because of the way Obinai lost, saying he won it by this and that. Richie Woodall had Obidai win by one round. Add back the points deducted from Cox, that means he had Cox winning by one round. Also on Richies card he had two even rounds that mean in his opinion they could have gone either way. Give it the judges didn't sit on the fence, but gave them rounds to Cox, there scores don't look that bad. As I said Cox shouldn't have been there at the end he should have been trown out after 6 rounds. Even if the judges see the fouls they can't act upon them unless the referee makes the call. I feel sorry for Obidai and there should be a re-match, but I feel the TV people made a lot more of it, its great TV for them.

Your right, it should have been taken out of the judges handsboxfan3 wrote:I think the problem here was Mark Green the ref, if he had thrown Cox out none of this would have happened. Who was robbed at the end of the fight ? Did the knock down make a difference ? I suppose like the football referee who gives a bad decision in favour of the away team and then gives a lot of bad decisions during the game in favour of the home team to give them the game, who cares about the first decision, what mattered was how the ref performed over the full game, the fighters are not to blame or the players are not to blame for officials, but officials should be accountable.jonny wrote:jonp wrote:Absolutly spot on point Honest mistakes really should be across the board.safeerah wrote: Robert Smith of the BBB of C states that our officials don't rob anyone, they just make honest mistakes, so tell me where are the honest mistakes in favour of the away fighters then ?
