Ah look, this argument is stupid. I was out cutting the rug last night , few shandies, & took offence. I'm not a thug.

I've seen Johnny fight live on a couple of shows. Decent fighter who always give people a work out. I can see why people may question somebody who has lost 67 of 70 fights but you also have to have respect for it as it can't be an easy role. Johnny often takes fights with minimal notice against guys who are better boxers and fights away from home. Give the guy some credit.

Johnny I see you are out in Portsmouth in a few weeks against Liam Griffiths after seeing him on Hatton player from the Elephant on Friday you will beat this fella!!

Anyone who takes such a view on journeymen has to "learn" the business.
"Business" being the key point - professional sport is about 2 things, Money and entertainment.
We don't have divisions like football, rugby, hockey etc. So people like Johnny often fight out of their level as this is where the money is. Unless he gets with a local promoter who will "look after him" he's always going to be the away fighter and is only picked if they think there kid can beat him.
The reason prizefighter has been so successfull is that 8 boxers get thrown in a pot who often wouldn't accept matches with each other ordinarily and providing you get lads of a similar level punters love it. It doesn't even matter that much what the level is - lets be honest the last Lt Midd PF was at least 1 "division" below the last PF at that weight but it was still good viewing.
Likewise if you threw 8 journeymen into prizefighter it "would" make good viewing because they are the same level and it would be close competitive matches. (The reason it prob. doesnt happen is because whilst it would be good for TV, I doubt the individuals would sell 150 tickets each and therefore sell out the York Hall)

sorry bour big man but your way off the mark,pro tennos players would lose ranking points and drop off main tour and same with golf,and those guys all would then have to qualify for events on the bigger tours!
appolo is right in a way but i do understand the need for journey men in our game especially with late calls etc.some of the match ups are ridiculous!

Don't understand the need for journeymen?? Err the need is for when others and so called prospects are to scared to fight each other, another need is when a fighter pulls out at short notice and needs to be replaced which in effect could lead to a whole show being cancelled, can lead a 'prospect' to leaning some of the tricks of the trade....Just a few reasons 'cutthecacklebullyup'

Apollo was out of order questioning JG in that manner but It seems like he doesn't quite grasp the ins and outs of Johns role but offering him out & threatening to bite his nose off doesn't come across too well!
