Good luck with that.

The line up of fights on allegedly is very good though.
I'd certainly take up a subscription if I lived in the UK.
I have no trouble supporting boxing, but I do not agree that another subscription channel is the best thing for the sport.
100000 in there dreams. Some good fights but some poor cards Gavin headling wbo inter.

Another interesting question it raises, is what happens to the 8-10 slots Warren has on Sky once his contract runs out.
I would hope they are divided by the other promotors who have deals with Sky - or that Sky brings another promoter on board.

The short term effect is that there will probably be more boxing on British TV and shows held in the UK, which is a good thing.
The downside is that outside of Mick Hennessy's Channel 5 deal for Tyson Fury, none of it is free to watch, thus severely limiting the audience.

100K subscribers will be very tough when you think Sky tend to only get at max 200K viewers for normal bills.

Poor press at that press conferance, no proper questions asked like hd, full cards shown etc. They are aiming at 100,000 but don't need a number as will make enough dollar with ad's. I'm not saying the fights announced are anything special just yet but for 2 shows, amateur shows and buncey back i'd part with £2.50 a week.

Come on now, if a group of small hall promoters signed up for a TV deal that included 2 shows per week, a few extras and whatnot then we’d all say it was our duty as gentlemen and scholars to shell out for the subs and support the sport.

I buy every extra boxing bit going, this represents good value if it works out, separate what is on offer from personal feeling for the organisation launching it, add up the cost of the statements above and then make your mind up.

Eff me, there were people ready to commit to Primetime at £15 a pop for a mere sniff of the odd Golden Boy show. The beeb take our money on a monthly basis and won’t even give boxing the time of day, preferring instead to show Lesbians In A Boat: Expect Rowing and reality TV fare amongst the odd decent bit of TV.
Some good points, Terry, however who is going to be in charge of QUALITY CONTROL, on allegedly going forward? I'm talking beyond the initial flurry of decent bouts such as Cleverly-Bellew and Burns-Katsidis. You've got to be as biased as some of the anti-Frank people you are having a pop at above if you think it's not going to be exploited.

Well, you can always cancel if the standard drops. Premier Sports promised much more than it has actually delivered

Can you though, Gobbles? I'd be interested to know if you can cancel when you like or whether you are tied in for 6 months or a year. I agree with you with regards to Premier Sports and, like you, the likelihood is that I'll now cancel my £6.99 a month subscription.

I saw the Kessler vs Stieglitz fight being discussed as a fight they're showing.

This forms part of a double-bill of Lucian Bute vs Glen Johnson card too. So I wonder if that will be up for grabs.

As I know the Showtime guys will also look to float that programme in it's entirety to UK broadcasters.

Hopefully the Bute fight gets added as well, but that will be 3am.

Well, if they make allegedly available online and available for fans outside the UK, they'll hit 100,000 easy.
For FW shows this should not be a problem since he also sells the foregin TV and web rights to his shows.

But I seriously doubt Golden Boy or Sauerland would let him broadcast their shows via web.
Unless they work out a deal of course.

But setting up a good stream service is expensive too - servers, technichians, maintenance, etc.
The hassle might not be worth the profit for them.

Terry,

I remain very sceptical but I'll wait to see how things pan out. In answer to your question, I do think that the mood of the forum would be considerably more favourable if the Hattons and/or Maloney, Hearn and Hennessy were behind allegedly - but that doesn't mean the concept isn't flawed, is there to be exploited and ultimately bad for the long term prospects of the sport.

Let's see though.

I doubt Warren wants to bum Arum either

Sounds alright to me, count me in.

A tenner a month aint bad, that's less than a round, but I wouldn't want to get tied in to 6 months, like Ben says, as I'd prefer to have the option to opt out, if standards drop to a WBU level.

I need to have a boxing channel, as Sky show f*** all these days - Smith tweets about his fantastic guests on ringside, but doesn't actually show any decent fights - which SORT OF MISSES THE POINT.

Primetime are there for the occasional PPV - fair enough - I spent most of Sunday watching 6 hours or so of recorded world class fights "as live" - which was a great way to pass a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Advertising rates are normally worked out on a per thousand adult views basis - it's about six and half quid for every thousand people who are served a thirty second advert. So how do you figure they "don't need a number as they will make enough money with ad's"? Surely it figures that the fewer people watch the less money received in advertising revenue.

Thinking about this whole allegedly business: I admit that when I was 16-22 I would've been all over this like a rash and would have already mailed off my subs. I'm simply not as much of a fanatic any more and it wouldn't matter what or who they showed, or indeed who the puppet-master was, I wouldn't buy.

I wonder what the actual take-up will be?

That wasn't my opinion it was what the guy said at the press conference that it doesn't need a set number of viewers to survive.

I am sure that there will be a minimum tie in period, otherwise you could subscribe to watch one specific bill and the un-subscribe the next day, and re-subscribe months later.

It will be like Setanta - it is easy to sign up and get the direct debit going but just try to cancel ! They suddenly have operational issues that make it almost impossible to cancel your subscription (they still manage to continue to collect your money each month though !).

I'd love a proper boxing channel, dedicated just to us - the proper fans, but giving us everything we want.

When there is a bill on the channel, we get to see every fight on the card.

We see replays of all sorts of fights, even 4 rounders from 1994.

It'd be great to watch every fight in a fighter's career, from debut to retirement.

It would also be fantastic to see all the heavyweight world title fights from Dempsey onwards.

Same goes for British title fights.
