'The Sports Bar'? :shame:
i have always enjoyed H&J so it's nice to know i'm not alone and to there credit they do talk a bit of boxing.
H & J are growing on me a bit but they're still a pair of supercilious middle class twats - IMO
I like supercilious middle class twats as Spud will confirm, it takes one to know one.

I didn't realise that a boxrec forum member worked alongside the gay one from steps on a radio show.

Aye - more to the point, aren't you, H and Glyn all Welsh too?
Getting a bit too f*cking cosy for my liking.
Oh aye, H and J are middle class to the core I feel but Hawksbee is genuinely funny at times, at least.
Goldstein and pudendum like just need bottling. (Note the 'l' in the last word, Stu)

Glyn - I think you have to be middle class to use the word "supercilious".
Anyway, we are all middle class now. Tony Blair said it, so it must be true.

It was John Major wasn't it?
Or was it Thatcher?

Prescott said it in 1997 and Blair used it a couple of years later, provoking the usual pointless newspaper drivel.
In 2011, Glyn Leach proved it.

Agree completely re. Goldstein. Getting Talk Sport and 5 Live through the internet are my cure for homesickness, but that's one show I can't stand. The Monday Night Club on 5 is my favourite, though have to be honest and say that Savage has won me over, which I didn't think would ever happen.

My Dad, who is often capable of the profound once said.
"If an alarm clock wakes you up in the morning, you're working class, whether you're a barrister or bin man".
He also said of Steve McClaren;
"Its hard to get behind a man who doesn't know where to stand."

I love these quotes. Like a very good barrister, your Dad sounds like someone who cuts straight through the argument.

He comes from a line of men capable of the profound.
On financial affairs:
"When thaz got nowt, but on tha best suit. Don't let the buggers know thaz skint"
On time management:
"When thaz got jobs to do, always do 'ardest first."
On careers advice:
"When that grows up son, use that (pointing to temple) and not them (pointing to arms), cos them'll wear out (pointing to arms)"
On immigration:
"Thez no racism in't pit, when tha comes out, yar all black"
On my Yorkshire roots:
"You see that (looking out across Yorkshire dales), its all thars, and nobody can tek it away from thee"
On marriage:
"If tha gets one 'ayf as good as tha mum, ya'll have a good un"
On peer pressure:
"Never mind about worit does to thy 'ealth, if tha dunt smoke, come Wednesday tha always be ten bob better off than ya mates, which means tha can gew out and they'll be stuck in"
On troublemakers:
"If thas gonna be a fayt, and the's no avoiding it, make sure that gets first two in. Not many will want to know afta first two."
On nights out:
"If thas in a strange town that tha dunt know, dunt gew in pubs near market."
Great men both.
