It looked to me as if Tony made an effort to make contact with the head. Whether he meant to or not thats how it looked and a ref has to make a judgement call. RD is the best we have. His early intervention helped make it the contest it was, imo.

RD Should be praised for an early bollocking whoever it was too. it reminded the boxers who the boss was and by doing so he contribued massively to the great fight that we had. credit where credits due and any one who critiscises should become a ref and see that its not easy.

Very interesting to read your comments on here regarding my performance. Only thing I have to say is the reason Tonys cornerman was sent away from the corner in the last round was because he was banging on the canvas, which is not allowed. Heat of the moment, I know for which he apologized as soon as the final bell went. Congratulations to two great fighters on a sterling performance. It was a pleasure and an honour to have shared the ring with two lovely guys.

fair enough he apologised but shouldnt you stop the fighters in action rather then be looking away from them having ago at a cornerman.had an incident happened you'd of been in no position to witness it.
i understand a ref putting there stamp on a fight & calling both fighters in for a pep talk. but to scream like a psycho looks unproffessional.roy francis was mentioned & was a great ref who had the timing & a deep authoritive voice but he never lost it with anyone a made a spectacle of himself(calzaghe v reid ). after o'connell & francis you were the natural succesor & ive enjoyed many of ypour fights & you've proven yourself as one of the countries leading refs but recently you seem to lose controll & your movement has badly deteriorated

John Coyle the best Ref ever and keep himself in shape John was very Professional We miss him badly

I'd be more concerned with his scorecard in the Williams/Norton fight to be honest.

He's a lot better at refereeing than he is at judging. If I were a manager I'd insist that if he was involved he was the 3rd man in the ring. Don't let him near a scorecard.

Foster is the opposite, as an ''away'' fighter I'd refuse to get in the ring. A couple of flurries that mainly miss and you've a KO loss on your record.

I used to like Mickey Vann.

Only a couple of incidents I can recall that are questionable..... doing Hatton a favour in the 2nd round of the Magee fight and a dodgy scorecard for Chavez/Whitaker.

He'd regularly give fights to the away fighter, something I like to see.

Edit - on Foster, apparently he DQ'd a home fighter on a show a couple of weeks ago, fair play if this is true.

He's as accurate a judge as we have, Keane isn't bad either. Parris, Davies and O'Connor are three that always seem to come up with dodgy cards.
