You think Harrison could sell out an arena? come on Kingfinn, I admire your loyalty to old aud but please! Unless you mean Northgate Arena in Chester?

He seems to be winning the Strictly judges around though. If they'd been at the Haye fight and he'd have lasted the 12 you never know what the result might have been :TU:
I think you're over estimating my opinion of Harrison i dont think for one second think he could fill the MEN but he could definatley fill a respectable size arena and he is probably the biggest draw TV wise in the UK and if not he is certainly the 2nd biggest draw.

We'll have to agree to disagree but when im proved right ill make sure i bring this thread back up

mate who would go to watch him???? Are you telling me all the Strictly fans would turn up to watch him fight??

Do me a favour.........

Sell out an arena, even a teeny tiny one if that's what you mean (and should have said) based on what?

A decent top 10 place in Strictly?!

He used to get 6.5 million people tuning in to watch him fight and has been part of one of the most lucrative ppv events in british history. He's not just a top 10 strictly dancer he's one of the contestants on the top viewed prime time tv program in the UK. i didnt say he could only sell out a teeny tiny arena i said a respectable sized arena, how many fighters have managed to sell out the 02 or MEN? Thats the other extreme , however if he managed another world title shot he sure could..

Boxers with cross over appeal tend to draw the biggest crowds and viewers Harrison is a big big name. Calzaghe was best known in the UK after doing strictly imagine how many fans he would have had if he had done that and then had some more fights.

When harrison returns to the ring it will be a massive event. Are you telling me you wont be watching?

Eddie Hearn "The average Saturday night viewing figures for Sky are between 100,000 and 200,000. When Audley won Prizefighter, the number was 555,000. When he knocked out Michael Sprott in the last round, it was 590,000.

-----------------

Boxer Audley Harrison has admitted he joined the show to better his chances of a good comeback in the ring next year, the show has now overtaken xfactor ass the most view uk program averaging 9 million viewers.

The former Olympic gold medallist, who danced the foxtrot with partner Natalie Lowe, said: “All this rise and fall is perfect for boxing. So in 2012 I will have one final shot before I retire.

“There’s such a dearth of talent at the top level, you need only to win one decent fight and you could be fighting for the world title again.

“Coming on this show, has put my profile back in place. This show has served the purpose for me. Strictly has opened a door in terms of getting me the right guy to fight next year.

---------------

Are people doubting that a draw like harrison isnt likely to get a second title shot if he gets one decent win next year? We are talking about an era when chisora and fury have been offered pops at the klitschkos.

Although you guys could be right maybe nobody will bother tuning in to support an olympic gold medalist, well liked guy from the most popular tv show in the uk, backed by an xfactor style sob story about never giving up, trying to get a world title shot.

I think alot of that was down to no having a promoter. If he had been with say FW he would have had loads of confidence builders. As i've said before he looked great in the williams rematch and was looking great in the 1st sprott fight, he had finally started letting the leather fly. Once he got sparked by sprott he went gun shy again, he showed a good 12 minutes of fighting at his potential.

Im not as deluded as people would make out, i do however believe he has one last roll of the dice left in him to do something impressive, i also think despite everything he has been good for the sport.

I thought he came across well on ringside and his reasons for wanting to return to the ring and also for going on srtictly showed that he's not in it for the money.

The laid back audley certainly connects with the public better than the up tight im the man audley that he was projecting at the start of his pro career. He also just retweeted me so imo Big Aud is a top bloke.

So he tweets at you and you go into a cloud of delusion and somehow Fraudly is a future champ? He must have been a good am but as a pro he has been woeful from start to finish and no matter what he does to you, tweeting or otherwise he has been terrible for boxing. He ruined BBC coverage with his overpriced mismatches. It goes without saying the damage his PPV fights done.

That dancing show is a load of shite and Aud is finished in boxing.

Seeing Audley on Ringside yesterday, undoubtedly more humble but sorry is a complete lost cause as a boxer.

My background is in Sport Psychology, and yes boxing is 80 percent mental - but Audley just focuses way way too much on mental preperation - blaming things not being right mentally for his complete non show.

Its always about the mental side of things for him. Against Rogan he kept saying how it "all seems to be clicking now"..... He's had twice the experience of the Irish cabby.

You know he needs a "Mickey" type character behind him and just say "stop fecking thinking" and just throw some punches.

He's too robotic like in his mental approach, everything has to be perfect or he is fucked. Unfortunately, this is not Golf where you largely in control of things... you've got a live opponent against you who isn't going to do all the things you planned.

If there were any people who still believe in him, I just hope that interview highlighted that he is a lost cause. He cannot adapt mentally, mainly because he has a fear of his opponent and the only way he can win fights is if it is on his terms.

Showed mental toughness against Sprott, yeah I'll give him his dues there.... But lets not forget, had Sprott just ran away focused on defence for the last round - we would have been calling it a very bad night at the office.

Also if a fighter hasn't sparred in 2 months (thats the entire duration of most people's camp right?) and cannot do a press up. Then the BBBoC should be put into disrepute for clearing Audley medically fit to box, or at least need to re-assess their medical procedure's.

Quite ironic I thought on the show that Powell was stating that he saw him training like a demon and in great shape and looking the part in gym in the build. And Audley was painting an entirely different picture - no sparring, no press ups etc.

I agree with the above - although it seems strange to do so when we are talking about an Oympic champion.

He showed on Prizefighter that he can commit his punches - but only when he believes that he has an absolute overwhelming chance against his opponent.

On Ringside I thought I heard him say that he would have preferred to have been knocked out in the Haye fight (might be wrong ?) - he comes across well and can certainly talk a good fight, but he is unable to back it up in a live fight (and his biggest problem is that he knows this).

Also, what promoter would want to get involved (I assume Audley wants paying well) - I can't see any TV company taking this on either.

Rather than working his way up the rankings, he wants one fight then another World title shot !

I really, really like Audley as a person and often enjoyed seeing his considerable physical talent come to fruition in the ring.

Sadly, it's been clear for the last 5 years or so that the guy only has the hunger to be a boxer for about 3 months of the year. He's now gone nearly 12 months without throwing a punch at someone yet expects to compete with guys who train every single day.

He's going to get hurt if they put him in with anyone respectable, which would be horrible to see.

He doesn't need the cash because he got a whopping deal at the licence payers' expense and fought nobody.....as soon as he stepped up he was beaten

He's made money off the back of shit performances against domestic class rivals, and lost to several of them

..and he beat a totally out of shape Williams having been outmanned by him first time around

He's had more second chances than most.... he should never fight again after the Haye debacle

Firstly i didnt say he was a future champ i said he was becoming the peoples champ and secondly i started the thread before i got a tweet. i was adding that in as a bit of a joke, my point is that people are starting to really like him and he is becoming very popular.

Did he really damage boxing? 6.5 million people were tuning in to watch him fight on the beeb. They decided to scrap boxing after Harrison didnt get to world level but for the million quid they paid him they didnt lose alot they probably gained and wouldnt have bothered with boxing at all if it wasnt for the gold medal.

I dont see why so many people are begrudging a guy trying do a sam beckett and "put back what once when wrong". If he tries and fails he'll make a decent scalp for someone like fury and boost their popularity and fanbase, if he wins and ends up doing something impressive he would be the british cinderella man and would have made up for past let downs.

I could understand why people would hate him when he was doing all the A-Force im the man stuff, but when he's being humble and saying i dont want to be remembered as a let down we should remember that he won us a gold medal and that deserves one last crack of the whip at anypoint in a mans career.

Fair dues. I had just arrived home from work and was in a foul mood, so hadn't read the whole thread.

His humble act doesn't wash with me I'm afraid. He is a tit. The 6.5 mill who watched did not enjoy what they seen that's for certain. His BBC stint was pathetic.

Apparently, according to that Boxing Buffoon Jeff Powell.................

Audley has called out Tyson Fury and Tom Dallas and wants to start fighting at the start of next year. Audley reckons that if he beats someone like Fury then he will get a title shot against one of the Klitschko's. I think his plan is to gain popularity on the show and then say to the Klitschko's that he can guarantee 3 million grannies will buy ppv to see him fight for the title. The best bit was when Audley said of his fight with Haye, that he was "Not in the ring that night........."

Don't you just love these little sayings

Had he gone out on his shield vs Haye we'd all be behind him

Had he come out after that disgrace of a "performance" and held his hands up and admitted he doesn't have the bottle, we'd all be behind him

Instead it's excuses, excuses.....followed by a turn on TV (how much is he being paid, probably £50,000-100,000?) and when he's almost kicked-off, as he will be soon, it's back to boxing talk and trying to hoodwink armchair fans he's the real deal because he's "that boxer off the telly"

Absolutely joke

If he was scared vs former cruiserweight Haye imagine how he would feel vs Wlad or Vitali?

Being in the same city, never mind the same ring, would have him reaching for the Dulux

And half of the posters on here still believe he can win a title, or deserves props?

Dear me....
