Here are some odds and ends of Mitch Green's boxing career.
In January 1990 Dennis Rappaport became his manager.
he also had a new trainer,
and was a sparring partner for Riddick Bowe at Gleason's Gym.
Greens first fight after his loss to Mike Tyson almost four years
earlier was supposed to air live during July-10- 1990 on USA's Tuesday Night Fights
Mitch Green vs Mike Cohen,but either Green pulled out of it on short notice
or he was pulled off of it.

Makes you think,didnt HBO themselves wonder why Mitch Green was only getting paid 30 thousand to fight"the Baddest man on the planet"?
HBO pays Don King for it to show on HBO, and then Don King pays the fighters?
at least Jose Ribalta got paid 52 thousand to fight Tyson on HBO.
maybe for a fight on ESPN but a major fight but HBO?
sounds like chump change to me.

Sounds like Green's manager Carl King didn't do the toughest negotiating with the promoter (and 'coincidentally') his dad Don King. There's a surprise. I'm sure Carl and Don were paid handsomely.

Remember when father & son made a million plus with their Tim Witherspoon deductions? Tim got punched in the face by Frank Bruno for 100K and Bruno, the challenger and loser, walked away with a cool mil.

Don & Carl, they'll be toasting nicely in the next life!

Im guessing the 30 thousand dollars that Green got,
that was before taxes ,also training expenses,sparring partners,room and board and the cost of the taxi from the hotel room(and tip) and Don King double charging him for everything else. My guess would be that Green got maybe 127 dollars a round be in the ring that night with Mike Tyson.

Wouldn't doubt it. And when you consider this, Blood doesn't seem so "crazy" anymore (that would drive anyone crazy).

Interesting that Green is talking Shannon Briggs. Green was scheduled to fight the prospect Shannon Briggs on the big Christmas MSG show in 95 - but went on another rampage and was replaced by Calvin Jones.

I wonder what on earth would have happened that night had Green boxed Briggs?

For some reason in my head I always connect Green with Jeff 'Candy Slim' Merritt

So I just watched Tyson-Green all the way through for the first time in probably 15 or so years, and what hadn't been imprinted from when I initially saw it was just how big of a beating Green took in that fight. Despite all of Green's holding, he took many flush shots in every round-HBO punchstat had Tyson landing over 60%(!) of his punches on Green, which is an insane amount from a knockout puncher over the distance. Green did show incredible toughness as well as conditioning and durability in that fight. Too bad his technique was poor and his power and defense practically non-existent. Tyson had zero respect for Green's power.

Tyson was still a 19 year old prospect. I don't think anything above 40K would've made any sense at the time.

But how many 19 year olds get on the cover of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED magazine?

Green once held up a service station. The attendant ran away so Mitch after robbing the til, started filling up people's cars with petrol and pocketing the money. That's what he was doing when the cops turned up. The guy was a severe Einstein
