Eating those words or what? :OhYes:

The result don't matter. We both know who really won that fight!

I'm confused now.... Does Dereck get to make love to Helenius or not? And if so, in what position

Ha, Chisora did very well and he certainly won - just imagine how commanding he could have been at a lighter weight?

True, but it still doesn't alter the fact that Chisora is fat & lazy.

He might be European Champion today if he could be bothered to train as hard as he talks; in fact, he'd be unbeaten right now & be British & Commonwealth champion too.

He was hardly fat and lazy in teh Helenius fight. He threw loads of shots. Fury, different matter

The fact remains that heavies in general and Chisora in particular aren't in the shape that boxers @ other weights are :(

I get that Chisora is a naturally massive 6'1" and maybe nearer 6'2".
I get the fact that boxing isn't bodybuilding and without the need to make weight a good heavy doesn't need to be ripped.
I get the fact that Chisora fought extremely well, easily winning more than 6 rounds at a good pace.

BUT..

C'mon...
Look at the best heavies - Drs K2, Haye - THEY look/ed like elite pro athletes and the tier below just don't.
Chisora would have ripped a decision right out of the Sauerland's dirty brown envelopes if he'd been 10lbs lighter !
It's not just the weight per se, but the diet, cardio, discipline etc. that it represents..

He's fat & lazy in the sense that he has never got down to a weight that would be suitable for him.

He did throw a good few punches against Helenius & did quite well against an average opponent, but imagine he could have been bothered to come in at about an ideal 225lb & thrown even more punches & then the decision would not have been in doubt.

Dereck has shown that he has the basics talents to be a good fighter & I've said it before, but he will get pasted by the Klitschkos unless he takes the sport more seriously & trains properly & comes it at a sensible weight (i.e., a lot less than 243lbs).

Sums it up - same for Fury.

Why don't you try fighting in that style for 12 rounds at a good pace while carrying 243 pounds?

His cardio fitness is obviously pretty fornicating good. I don't why people make such a big deal of HWs being heavy.

If Del Boy had worked his way down to 220 he would have been unstoppable. In that sort of condition even the judges would not have been able to take it from him.

He's just a modern heavyweight. Fat, slow, poor. Weight & 'strength' (fat) is all important now. Quality of fights or fighters is not.
Sonny Liston - the same guy who after 3 rounds with Ali in there first fight was moving like he 'was walking in quicksand' and after 6 rounds 'looked like a 100 boxing years' and exhausted (despite the advantage of having 'allegedy' blinded Ali with ointment on his gloves') You could have used a better example. Weight, fitness and stamina are different things.

But, yeah, fair enough - I would revise that to good shape than 'very good shape'. Del Boys legs look like tree trunks, he had pretty good muscle definition at the weigh in today imo.
Liston was also old when he faced Ali - there were a lot of doubts about his age, there were questions regarding his birth certificate, and some sources had him closer to 40 when he faced Ali - he certainly looked pretty old.

I think it has been explained by numerous people as to why it's a big deal about HWs being overweight.
