I can`t believe anyone had this close,Chisora won at least 8 rounds and that is being genorous to helenius. That was the worse robbery i have seen this year.I knew Chisrora would get jobed at the end, the Saurlands had Helenius 5 -1 after 6 :witzend: The ref was a prick aswell.

Terrible result, Chisora won that fight handily.

Hellnius looks like the maniac guy from the film Fargo.

I`d like to see fury fight him or Price.

Put it this way, how many people thought that Chisora had won the fight when the announcer said................

" We have a split decision................"

EXACTLY !!!!!

True................

It's more about the build up to fights than the actual event !!

Totally agree

He's Anders Eklund with a solid chin.

Well he has only beaten Chisora because of Sauerland everyone knows he lost to Chisora!! Povetkin and Fury would both walk through Helenius, Solis if in shape would have no trouble with him, Adamek is just such a better boxer if his chin held up he'd win, Chambers and Thompson would walk rings around him and Wach would put him to sleep. Could find more aswell, Helenius is not a top 10 heavyweight or close to that
i disagree totally, and if im proved wrong i will hold my hands up. last nights chirosa beats fury easily in my opinion, so how does helenius be walked over by fury?
Last nights Chisora would beat Fury, but Chisora dominated Helenius in that fight! Fury would be way too big for Helenius too if he was getting hit by Fury not Chisora last night he would have been on the floor

Sorry, I can't agree mate. Fury does not punch anything like as hard as he should or even as hard as Chisora. He is a pretty average puncher. He is a busy puncher but certainly not a hard one.

Don't expect a rematch, there's no way Helenius will risk his ranking with nothing to gain.

Chisora needed the Fury loss as a wake up call to his life and his attitude to boxing.

He did not need a dubious decision going against him last night. I'm not going to cry robbery, we have seen worse on our shores and others but the wrong man got the verdict in a tight fight.

Chisora won rounds BIG, Helenius squeaked through his.

116 - 113 on my card, .

Chisora is a strange man, I hope to see a Fury rematch to answer any unresolved questions there.

I thought it was a good heavyweight fight, something we don't always get with the big guys, Helenius will get a title shot at some point in his career, he has the right connections and brings entertainment to a fight.
Chisora should of been declared the winner, but he was up against it with fighting away from home. Also the ref was on his case from the start. Chisora even said "your starting to piss me off" half way through one of the rounds

As long as Chisora doesn't lose focus and stays fit, he can also get himself a title fight. But i think Warren needs to strike whilst the irons hot and get Chisora a rated boxer for his next fight.

I'm not sure I agree with this.

Fury actually has a pretty impressive KO record [12 from 17 unbeaten fights] - and he takes most opponents out quite early too.

I think what people mean when they say he isn't a big puncher, is that for an 18+ stone, 6'9 guy he should punch EVEN harder than he actually does.

The point is - despite falling short of what he is capable of - because he is bigger than everyone in boxing bar Valuev, he still is a very BIG puncher, and certainly bigger than Chisora etc. It's just we all know he should really be delivering more.

Helenius has been found out BIG TIME now and I can only see him heading in one direction now :TU:

A lot of fighters go through very rough spots at one time or another. I wouldn't completely write off Helenius due to one poor performance.

Mike Tyson was a big puncher, Nigel Benn was a big puncher as was Danny Williams & David Haye. Impressive KO records don't mean a whole lot. It's who you fight and a record padded with KO wins might give some the impression a guy is a banger but that is not always the case. And I firmly believe this is the case with Fury.

Nothing new with the formula, It's just knowing the difference between a guy who is a genuine puncher and one, based on an impressive resume, giving the impression that they are.

Anyways, back to the thread :TU:

Yet another shocking hometown decision.

Chisora for me won by an absolute mile.

Helenius was dire.

The daftest thing said all night was John Rawling's comment that perhaps we are beyond the era of dodgy decisions because of the Murray--Sturm verdict the previous evening. Then this happens!

There have always been loads of shit decisions and down right fixes, even when boxing was booming.
The argument that boxing is dying because of poor decisions is completely unsubstantiated. At every point in boxing history there have been an abundance of poor decisions rendered, and corruption and incompetence are not viewed more negatively today than they were during the 70s, 80s and early 90s, when boxing was certainly doing just fine. If contentious verdicts turn people away from the sport in significant numbers, I doubt that it would have taken so many years for boxing's popularity to drop to a low level.

On a related note, I find it laughable that some posters are going beyond the claim that boxing is moribund and arriving at the conclusion that it is already dead. This thread is protesting the result a bout that was attended by a record breaking 12,738 people in Finland, a few hours later 21,239 Puerto Ricans and Mexicans filled a sold out arena in New York to watch Cotto avenge his loss to Margarito, and one day earlier a crowd of 12,000 were on hand in Germany to watch Sturm and Murray go to war. Clearly boxing is living, so if it is also dead it must be a zombie.

I don't go there. But I once did go there and it resulted in an exchange of private messages with an Israeli bloke who was obsessed with Denis Lebedev. Ari, that was the Israeli's name, had somehow cottoned on to the fact I knew Denis and he asked if I would be able to obtain some signed merchandise on his behalf. We reached an agreement that the next time I saw Denis I would see what I could do. A month or so later I had been able to obtain a signed photograph of Denis that included a personalised message to Ari, albeit in Cyrillic - to the best of my knowledge, at the time, Ari only read Hebrew and English (I subsequently learned that he was also fairly well versed in Arabic but that's inconsequential).

I made contact with Ari and explained that I could post the item or, as I was due to visit Tel Aviv later the same month, we could arrange to meet up and I could deliver in person. Ari lives in Haifa, which is about 90 minutes by road if you put your toe down, and I hadn't been there for a while so thought it might make for an interesting afternoon out. Ari thought that meeting up was a great idea and we set plans in place: date, time, place.

So (to cut a long story short) I arrived at a small bar overlooking Dado beach, the weather was lovely and there wasn't a suicide bomber in sight, the girls were out in their summer finery and the signed Denis Lebedev photo was snugly tucked away in my attaché case (man-bag). I ordered a mineral water and a salad and waited for Ari to arrive. About ten minutes after our agreed rendezvous time a young boy, seven or eight, approached and said "are you the MachoMan" I said "ooh yeah" - he didn't get it - he said "Ari said you must follow me". I explained that I'd just ordered a salad that I had every intention of eating, so Ari would have to wait. I offered to buy the boy a beverage. He asked for a Pepsi. No problem. Our conversation was fairly clipped, his English was limited and my Hebrew is beyond dire.

As I was savouring a mouthful of my salad, it dawned on me that I could just give the lad the photograph. Did I really need to meet Ari? Ari hadn't arrived at the rendezvous and he lived in the same town. I'd travelled from Tel Aviv! I made the decision to hand the photograph to the boy. But as I began to reach into my attaché case he sat bolt upright, jumped down from his chair and ran from the bar. Weird. So I drove back to Tel Aviv, still have the photograph and have never heard from Ari again.

That preaches a salutary lesson to us all: never go on the Current Scene. Or arrange to meet strange Zionists over a signed Denis Lebedev photo.

I don’t agree that showboating loses you the round but if you have the energy to piss about for a few secs then you have it to throw a few shots. Chisora did well, I just felt that he didn’t press his advantages as often as he could do and that Helenius created the impression of forcing Dereck into a shell once or twice. We know that Dereck is mad, the judges don’t and EBU judges historically go for what they consider to be clean shots and a rough notion of accuracy – I think that some of Dereck’s work was sloppy and cost him crucial rounds.

Good fight, though. Wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch.

Dang, what am I saying. ROBBERY!! This type of thing would never happen here in the UK (where we were only two rounds away from Prince Arron scoring a SD win in a fight that he lost by a landslide). We don’t do decision robberies over here, we usually just jump in and stop the poor sods as soon as we get the opportunity.

As for the ref, he was a pain but eased off and I think he actually took a shine to Chisora so didn't take any points away, as he could have done, wrongly in my view, due to the amount of warnings he gave out, again some of these were wrong.
I scored it a draw&i thought i was the only one, good fight&id like to see it again, that Chisora would beat Fury no doubt..

Had Chisora just winning thought he did well compared to the Fury fight. If he trained better for that he would have beaten Fury.
