thats probably because the deductions are supposed to be taken off afterwards.

What do you mean by "fringe contender"?

Peterson was ranked about 6th in the world before he beat Khan last night, so I would say he is a contender rather than just a fringe contender.

The referee certainly imposed Peterson's fight on Khan.

Generally, I prefer that style of reffing, just let the fighters have at it on the inside, as long as the action flows and things don't become too ugly.

Khan clearly has a deficit when it comes to fighting on the inside, and for those fights allowed to play out in that fashion, both parties need to be willing in order to prevent it becoming too ugly, Khan wasn't and the problem was that the referee was clearly cognisant of this, insistant on letting it play out in a fashion that absolutely favoured Peterson despite things becoming very messy.

I'm not saying the ref was outside of the rulebook, or that Peterson didn't prove (once again) that he's a top notch fighter, but clearly a more even-handed referee would've seen a different outcome.

I couldn't help but laugh when he complained about Peterson's head, what the **** would he think if Bradley's shiny dome was in there?

The only guy that seemed to be in on an attempted robbery was Nelson Perez who gave Peterson just 3 rounds! What fight was he watching?

Khan had an off night, simple as. He was guilty of taking Peterson lightly but that's a lesson he's learnt and I doubt he'll ever do that again.
Not Khan's biggest fan but he has still so much to offer and he IS world class.

1. Constantly talking about opponents not deserving X amount of money or asking for too much.

2. Accusing world class fighters of being scared.

3. Having staff paid to sit on Twitter all day and mouth off at people.

4. Constant gaffes when being interviewed.

So.... will a defeat like this where (reading the reports, I'm waiting for the replay) he might have been hard done by teach him a lesson, in that he's not the be all and end all, and needs to earn the position in the sport that he craves?
Talking about other fighters not deserving big paydays is the one thing that really winds me up about Khan,he should be worrying about the fighters not their pay
TOTALLY AGREE - Hatton used to do it too.

Take a look in the Mirror and think about what you have said ? Top Junior Amatuer, Olympic Siver Medalist and Pro World Champion, a mere con ? come on, think !
I was talking about the song that was made called Amir khan.. It did sound like it said a mere con.. If you look at my other posts I've praised him but it did sound like he was saying that and i do find it funny.. I know his achievements better then alot of British athletes.. I think I'm allowed to laugh at something.. !!

your speaking bollocks mate IMO, khan underestimated the guy, he will come back stronger like his run since Prescott, his not the best technically but his heart and speed will get him in big fights for years to come, I can see khan ending up with 5 losses but still being box office !

I don't think it was a case of underestimating Peterson, I think it had a lot more to do with the choice of venue/referee that saw Khan flounder.

If they'd have enlisted a ref who'd have broken the action every time things got tangled up, Khan would've likely gotten a clear UD.

I could be wrong, but Khan looked fairly well prepared to me, his stamina was certainly there and he had his moments. His biggest problem was that he couldn't keep Peterson honest enough to stem that constant charge, and the referee allowed those charges to reach their absolute conclusion (favouring Peterson), despite things becoming incredibly messy.

I'm definitely a fan of Khan's, and I'd like to think he had an off-night, but I don't think it was due to underestimating Peterson.

A Vegas rematch could see the outcome reversed, but it's clear to me that it'll hinge on the choice of ref.

What a can of worms that negotiation would be with Bradley, jesus.

Nobody has made a big deal about this at all. It was a close fight and his card would've needed checking if Peterson had lost

Charlieb, I think his conditioning and shape had nothing to do with his mind set, everyone around khan said they hadent underestimated Peterson, but only the fighter himself knows if he gave it everything in training or not, i believe khan wasn't expecting such a war and I honestly believe a rematch will prove this.

I really thought it was close, I scored it a draw after the 2 point deduction which I actually disagree with ( the last point ), there's been loads of fights this year with odd decisions IMO, I think this proves 50/50 match ups with different styles makes it hard to score, although khan was on the back foot taking accurate shots from Peterson I still think khan nicked many rounds with fast combinations and work ethic, I'm not moaning at the result, I thought a draw would of been fair.

It was close and i wouldn't have complained with anything from a khan win, loss or draw. I prefer Petersons style to Khans and still only had him up by 2 and that was me giving him the close rounds purely from the point of view that judges don't give even rounds. Good fight and look forward to the re-match. I just wish Khan would think before he speaks, he's been on the other end quite a lot

I think a fight with Mayweather or Pacman is just a joke. Both would beat Khan easily. Khan would be biting off more than he could chew. Ricky Hatton couldnt mix it with the elite and Ricky was a much tougher fighter. I think Bradley would prove to be too much as well. Will this loss make him more humble, the answer is NO. He fouled Peterson because he couldnt deal with him and now blames the ref for his losing the fight. Peterson was the better man, and Khan should live with that and learn from his mistakes. I had a feeling he was underestimating Peterson and looking past him, so I thought there was a possibility Peterson could cause the upset and he did. Peterson had studied Khan and believed he knew how to beat him. Had Peterson got a KO punch he would have taken Khan out. Anyway I think Khan has reached his level now. Hes very gifted but just not tough enough for the top guys who can deal with his speed and bunches of punches and fight back. Kell Brook, that would be interesting.

Will it make Khan more humble? Have you got him mixed up with Naseem hamed or Chris Eubank ro something?

Khan doesn't need to be more humble as he's not an arrogant one! He's a good guy and he will bonce back from this but even if he doesn't, he's done well enough for himself anyway so fair play to him!

I think Khan is just one of those fighters that will sometimes excel and sometimes frustrate.

When he comes under pressure he either tries to macho it out or goes into 300 mph reverse gear! Neither tactic is particularly pleasing to the eye.

I'd love to see him develop his management of the distance between himself and his opponent. Froch is the best at this imo.

With Khan's natural ability, hand speed and foot speed, I think he could Willie Pep himself to world domination.

Still, he is very entertaining, exciting and shows flashes of brilliance - So the ride is worth watching while it lasts.

Although his attitude does come across as if he is surrounded by yesmen and business men with a lot of money and time invested into him.

Naz squnadered his natural gifts in speed and power, he didn't even train for a lot of his fights.

As soon as he made enough money he was happy to get out but he should have teained properly for Barrera and maybe would or should have won against him.

No he wouldn't have.

Barrera was the easiest of the three Mexicans for him to fight and he was well beaten. Morales would have ruined him. I would say that he'd never have fought again but he only had one more after Barrera and stunk the joint out.

Marquez would have toyed with him too, 120-108 x3.
