Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
Unless they get matched up, I think it'll be Day and Galeano in the Finals..
I think Fiorentino would give Day a good fight but would come up short...think Galeano would beat Jeremy again too...
Can't see the slower Dobson beating Day and Galeano in my opinion would land the cleaner blows if him and Dobson fought again...heard last time they fought it was ugly as ever but was close before Dobson was DQ'd

The Final Four is set for 141 Open and 132 Open...
Louis Cruz and Brian Ceballo both stopped their opponents...Wesley Ferrer and Jose De La Rosa won their bouts...
At 132 Open, Titus Williams, Bryant Cruz, and Vassily Zhrebneko won their bouts...Dominique James received a bye...
141 Open
Louis Cruz (Atlas Cops & Kids) def Josue Vazquez (Mendez BC) RSC-3
Jose De La Rosa (Universal BC) def Davon Dudley (Atlas Cops & Kids) 3-2
Brian Ceballo (Mendez BC) def Lewis Aponte (Juan Laporte BC) RSC-2
Wesley Ferrer (Brotherhood BC) def Glenford Nickey (New Legend BC) 5-0
132 Open
Titus Williams (Freeport PAL) def Luis Mancilla (Long Island BC) 5-0
Bryant Cruz (Main Street BC) def Alejandro Valentin (John's Gym)
Vassiliy Zherebnenko (Brighton Beach BC) def Rajon Grant (Atlas Cops & Kids) 5-0
152 Novice
David Tirado (Suffolk PAL) def Anthony Pratt (Unattached) 5-0
Benjamin Baez (White Plains Youth) def Bryant Cherry-Woode (Mendez BC) 4-1
152 Novice: Maxito Sainvil, Ronniel Vargas received byes
Ceballo and Cruz well overmatched their opponents...Wesley and Glenford was competitive til the 3rd when Wesley pulled it out, Titus Williams pitched a shutout easily beating Mancilla, Bryant Cruz was too much, Vassiliy outboxed and easily beat Grant, making him miss, fall down, and what not...
I think 132 will come down to either Titus Williams or Vassiliy Zherebnenko...141 I like Wesley, he's beaten Cruz in the past and I think he's beating Ceballo too...

Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)

I actually need some 201lb novice fights that took place that night. I called Bill and he said that he hasn't been to any of the shows in the past week. That guy is normally consistent as clockwork.NYAmateur90 wrote: Yeah I haven't seen Butterworth at some of the latest Golden Glove shows I've been too...last night included

I did see some guy there with a video camera filming, he was also at the one at C-PAC center. Older white man, maybe that's Bill's new competition. But I have no idea who he is.

Friday March 9

Brooklyn, NY
165 Novice
Anthony Merete (Veterans Memorial BC) def Jake Brodsky (Gleason's Gym) 3-2
Jeremy Humphrey (Gleason's Gym) def Philip D'Erasmo (Aaron Davis BC) RSC-3
Claude Paul (Freeport PAL) def Sudan Al-Martin (Gym X BC) 5-0
Ross Elson (Green Fitness Studio) def Mohamed Cisse (John's Gym)
178 Open
Luis Rivera (YMCA) def Alim Kivaza (NYAC) 5-0
Jeff Laguerre (Starrett City BC) def Chellamar Bernard (Worldwide BC) 5-0
Anthony Pegues (Main Street BC) def David Johnson (John's Gym) 5-0

Samar Bowe (Gleason's Gym) def Robert DePalo (Tiger Schulmann) RSC-3
Iegor Plevako (Win Or Die BC) def Roberto Morban (Fort Apache BC) 5-0
If Jeff Laguerre makes it to the Finals I think he could give Marcus Browne some problems...at least from what I heard last year Marcus didn't look good against Jeff and won a 4-1 decision...might be the only guy at 178 who could present a true challenge...maybe

Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
Yea you got a point. So it's day and galeano.. Who are you rooting for? I'm going to have to go with pat since he's ranked 1 in the country and beat galeano at nationals. Mm I wonder who's in the finals for 23
Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
Well ima go for chris of course since thats my brother.hes gotten better and stronger since nationals he stumbled fiorentino twice. Patrick isa great fighter but idk he hasnt look good since nationals in my opinion. I expected him to shut out dobson today and 141 women fought i rly think they gave that fight to cepeda. Bertha stopped some girl shouldnt have gotten to that point. And cristina cruz stopped her opponent a minute into the first round
Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
Igor beat Moban in the qt. finials last year he just has his number.Gln101 wrote:Morban and plevako should have been left for the finals
And it was not as good a fight as it was last year i don't know if Igor is slipping or if Moban was just better prepared.
Wieslaw Zagaya (Team Freeform) is the only threat left to a Plevako repeat.
