They do which is why boxing is one of the sports that you can make money on. Anyone holding a belt will be installed as an odds on favourite

Like the Belgium who fought Steve Foster a year ago - sometimes padded looking records disguise a quality operator.

Cannot see Marsili beating the top 4 domestically at the weight. Although, with two real horrible hard defeats who knows how much Murray has left. Think Burns, Mitchell and Rees (and so such Murray) beat him comfortably enough. I think Matthews MIGHT have, barring the injury - didn't look like he had the best of engine's Marsili

The Belgian was Ermano Fegatilli, who oddly I backed as well as Marsili, weird thing is Fegatilli is about to fight an Italian (who he has beaten once) who seems to have another padded record...

Umm, Marsili isn't a quality operator, rather Mathews has, uh, already showed his level many fights before this.

I know what your saying Riddick, not sure I would agree. Yes, we kind of know Matthews' level.... although I say kind of cause he has been inconsistent. He dominated a fighter who would go on to win the EBU Super Featherweight championship, and then a few fights down the line would himself get dominated by Scott Lawton.... so he's been a tad inconsistent in his career.

He was giving Gavin Rees, a former world champion, problems for the opening four rounds of their fight. Sometimes he look English title level (sub British title level) other times he looks EBU title level. Since he has returned he has looked pretty good - but that injury is a problem.

Depends how you define the term "quality operator". He aint going to be beating Brandon Rios thats for sure, but most British boxers would give their right arm to have the skill set to be "domestic title class" - and Marsili would definately be that.

I believe Burns,Mitchell,Rees&Crolla would beat Marsili,Derry is just a level below these guys thats all...He could still get some decent fights,but not at that level...

Aye - sorry I forgot to add Crolla's name to the list. I know Crolla is the British champion, but all of these could beat the best in Europe at least (baring each other of course) and I would place them into a European Class bracket.

Marsili would probably beat all the remaining members of the British top ten (excluding an on form Murray) and I would place him in the "domestic title" class.

I forgot Murray i think Murrays last two fights will have taken a hell of alot out of him&id be surprised to see him as a force again..

It's not that the British bookies favour the British guy, it's that British punters tend to favour the British guy.

Correct. The bookies are a business and the odds only reflect the money that is placed.

The punter/fan tends to be more emotional and like to favour the local boxer or the underdog etc.

The bookies do not care either way - if the punters start putting money on Boxer "X" then they adjust the odds accordingly.

I bet on Emiliano by tko/ko after watching him on youtube. I was alerted to the possibility he wasnt a Warren 'special' when I read a preview taht tipped him to win. On the youtube footage he threw one beauty of a counter right hook and I was sold there and then. It was against a 'bum', but it was the sort of punch Martinez would have been proud of (no, I am not jesting)

I think his engine is a bit suspicious so would take Gavin Rees to outwork him, and Burns and Mitchell to beat him due to their quality. Anyone else and I'm betting on the Italian. I think he was 10/1 tko/ko when it first opened
