I like Kell and look forward to seeing his development, I think if Gavin does get back on track a fight there may well happen somewhere down the line. Brook is clearly ahead in their respective paths now, but lets see how he gets on as he steps up again before we get too smug about what people did or didn't say. A lot of whom don't post here at all any more, not just about this subject.

Adnan fight never got put to me, I got two week notice on witter fight shortly after pulled out against horta, I would not duck any fighter an offer was low for cook so said no, I will fight in cardiff then4 or 5 weeks later, then again 6 weeks later, so hopefully start performing again cause if I don't then I would question myself cause I'm doing really well in gym at moment

So your getting more for McMillan then?? I doubt it, even if your not getting overpayed it is still a good learning fight and will offer you more money in the future.

I agree. Its time to get a move on. Once the new Olympians arrive he will become even less relevant. Not a great fan as I do not see what others see re: him being a 'special talent' but he is a decent fighter.

He may well live to be 95. Minted? If he has £1M and invests/spends wisely then he might be OK but £1M can go easily these days and he does not have that from fighting.If he has £100K then that's not 'minted'

£100K in the grand scheme of things is not 'minted'. That will look after you for a few years but he is still a youngster and has a small window to make his money.

cool mate just that i saw one of mcmillans friends yest and said he still wasnt sure if he was gonna take it as short notice and just back in gym

I agree there's little chance at the moment of the fight happening, but alot can happen in two years, I remember Jamie cox and kell being talked about all the time, Gavin has the beating of any 140-147lb boxer in the uk if his 100% right mind and body, he will hopefully find his feet in 2012 and have 6 or 7 fights, by the summer of 2013 he will be ready for ANY British/European fighter ! I'm sure of it.

Gavin V Brook is nothing like Mitchell V Murray, many people thought Mitchell would win that fight and tbh it was a pick em fight in the end. Mitchell had operated at fringe world level before, Gavin hasn't even fought at British level yet the two just aren't comparable. Murray is also nothing like Brook, Murray had struggled in some of his fights winning close decisions whereas Brook has won every fight he has had with ease

Any 140-147lb in UK?? So you think he has beating of Khan then? Gavin struggled past Curtis Woodhouse and you think he will beat Brook? Come off it, yes he is a very talented fighter but just because of his amateur success doesn't mean he will have any success as a pro

Oh yes, that all time UK classic - Ricky Burns v Nicky Cook.

Camcas, the past year for Gavin has been nothing but a pause in his pro boxing career, I agree brook has moved on as a product but not that much as a fighter, and yes I include khan, khan sparred many rounds with Gavin as an amateur and from what Terry Edwards had to say Frankie had the better of him. Obviously khan has moved massively forward in the last 3 years as a product and although he is very entertaining to watch has he really learnt from his past experiences ? I understand I'm making huge bold statements but if Gavin was to fight either khan or brook in the next two years I think he would win, when at his best no one can live with his natural ability and timing.

well said frankie,keep busy fight regulary then fight the big names when it matters most,this is your career if you lose then these people will be saying "told you so" instead of thinking "well maybe he wasnt ready for that fight yet". tibbs will get you to were you wanna go and the next fight i you have we will see a massive improvement(no disrespect to farrnel)

Frankie's not with the Tibbs. He has gone to his old am coach in Brum, Tom Chaney, and will also have Dean Powell in his corner.

Did Gavin ever fight under the Tibbs?
