Yeah, hard to trump both of those classics for pure drama. They really got the adrenaline pumping :box:

It's the ending of Ayers v Rigby that really makes it special.

Sellers vs Alex Stewart is also worth seeing :oo

Weird to think both are dead now, 45 and 52 respectively.

Sellers could really crack, he dropped Nelson which many couldn't manage.

I don't think that was ever the case. He was a huge underdog against Holyfield and put up a surprisingly game performance. His 24 straight knockouts were the result of careful matchmaking and everyone was well aware of that.

Was it Henry Tilman?

Can’t remember the exact history but he beat Tyson in the box offs, went to the olympics, won gold.

Then as a pro was highly touted but nearly came unstuck against Bert cooper, got done against Holyfield and then iced in about 90 seconds by a pissed off tyson

Stewart was pretty good. Has some decent wins and I thought he beat foreman. I mean he certainly beat his head, making it look like an overripe pumpkin

That's right, Foreman's head was double the size by the end of the fight.

I'm trying to think who I was confusing Stewart with, maybe it's the guy who had the bodybuilder type physique, was it Jeremy something, black american fighter.

It's all so bloody long ago though.

Williams.

They all blur into one for a time.

I remember ruiz getting terminated by tua live on tv around the time they were hyping up some of these guys. Then there was that guy from the kronk too, heavyweight.

Jeremy Williams , yes that's him - I remember him getting loads and loads of coverage in the Ring Magazine and others.

Orlin Norris, he was another who was hyped early on.

I only just saw that Smokin Bert Cooper had died when researching! Shite!

Blimey. When did he die? He was good on the way up. Had some decent wins then just seemed to go into sparring partner mode. I remember KO or ring used to refer to him as dope smoking cooper after he got busted

Thanks for posting will give it a watch later. Thompson always comes across as so humble/modest about his achievements in interviews and, dare I say it, seems a rather shy individual.
